How are kevlar jeans in terms of leg protection? I'm considering getting some for the convenience of not having to change clothes quite as much. In fact in that regard, how are they for everyday wear also?

i got some rst kevlar jeans. I like them. Ive had one spill at about 35/40 mph. Protected my knee and legs very well with the armour inserts. Although i was lucky not to hit anything, only slid accross the road.

Do you find them convenient/good enough for everyday wearing?

I use them a fair bit, they're very convenient but I find they're a tad warm for wearing them away from the bike. I have the hip inserts, but again they're quite clumsy to walk about in (quick to remove though, just Velcro'd in)
Overall I'd definitely recommend them for light to moderate use.

I have a pair of Hood jean's. With the full Armour. Cost about £125. Brought the next size up. As I slip them over my regular jean's. Not something you can walk round in all day. Heavy and as already been said the Armour is noticeable when you sit down. You need something under the jean's in my opinion. The concept of wearing them like normal jean's is over stated. Long John's in a hot day and under jean's on colder night's.

Apart from the obvious up point's. My pair have braces permanently fitted. So they are quick and easy to put on and take off. I have no idea if they are a one hit type of protection. In the way of can you use them again and again, if there is no know sign's of marking in the clothing.

I find them quite comfortable walking around in. Like goto, if you take the armour inserts out, but to be honest its hassle taking them out on my jeans. Ive worn them at shows ive ridden to or for light shopping in town.

I have Hood's, Bought the armour, but fitted it once and then removed it, never have it in now.

I can happily wear them all the time (I am as I write this), they are a little heavier than normal jeans as you would expect, I described it as feeling like wet normal jeans to give an idea of the weight.
The kevlar is comfy and you don't notice it, Little warmer than normal jeans when on the bike, off the bike I've not had much of an issue.

No idea on protection as I haven't crashed yet.

Is it the kind of thing you could wear at work? Bearing in mind I sit down most of the time at a computer.

This is something i'd be interested to know. A pair of black Kevlar jeans would be ideal for me as I sit at my computer all day at work and would save me 5 minutes changing at each end.

I own a pair of Richa Kevlar jeans. Never come off in them and don't wear any armor with them which is probably a bit stupid but the armor that came with them was really uncomfortable.

I wear Sartso Killers pretty much every day in the office (it is a casual office though...) and have no problems apart from having to shift the knee armour every so often. Also, as mentioned before, they can be a bit warm when off the bike, but I deal with it for the convenience.

Never come off in them, but I did have a slow spill in a pair of Draggin Jeans and apart from a couple of scuffs, there was no damage.

Have a few different pairs, Draggins Red Route and Berik. I wear them all the time. My Draggins are the most comfortable and the Beriks feel the strongest protection wise the red routes are a bit crappy but they cost me £15 I think so they are a good back up pair. In fact I'm wearing my dragging now and I wore my Beriks all day yesterday.

Quick point about the Beriks though, they came with a pop button rather than a standard jean button, I have no Idea why it was a moronic choice by the designer still £8 in the dry cleaners and they put a proper button in Thumbs Up

They're great without the armour, but sometimes with the knee armour in you need to re-adjust, or if its a particularly thick armour pad they do put pressure on your knees.

Simplest fix is to remove, or replace with thinner armour (something like a sas-tec pad) I found this worked better Very Happy

I'm wearing a pair of Hoods with knee & hip armour in as I type this. I've no problems with comfort, on or off the bike. Ordering them a size bigger and wearing ordinary jeans underneath is defeating the object IMO.

Can't tell you how they crash as, touch wood, I haven't so far.

I have a pair of RST kevlar jeans that I bought last year for £80. I use them when going on the bike to and from college, and now uni. That means that I use them 5 days a week for 30 ish weeks of the year, then when not at college and going to the girlfriends house or somewhere that jeans are acceptable I use them then too.

I find they are very comfortable, maybe slightly less comfortable than normal jeans due to the armour inserts but that is only noticeable when walking. I can sit in them all day, putting them on in the morning for uni/college then not getting out of them until I go to bed, although I generally take them off not long after i get home as they are a bit warmer than normal jeans due to the kevlar lining, but this depends on the temperature of the room.

Wearing them means that when I get to uni I don't have to take my textile trousers off which involves taking my boots off and putting them back on and shoving the trousers into my bag just so I don't sweat my arse off sitting in 2 pairs of trousers. Obviously wearing the jeans saves a lot of time too.

As for safety as far as I am aware they are pretty similar to textiles regarding abrasion resistance, but most of my commute is in a city so I am unlikely to come off at more than 30mph which I don't think will be a problem for them. The knee pads are very well positioned but can also be changed to suit you just by moving them up and down inside the pocket they are in and fastening it to suit.

I can say that after a years worth of heavy use there aren't really any signs of wear on them and I'd highly recommend them.

I'm a new rider, but thought I'd give my new found experience. I came off on the A1 leaving Paris last month doing 60mph. Slid along the Tarmac for ages. I was wearing a leather jacket but only G-star jeans on my legs. I've got a load of holes in them now about the size of a penny but nothing major. I didn't get a scratch on my legs. Was I incredibly lucky or are these Kevlar jeans hype?

Pretty lucky IMO.

I wore a decent sized hole in my textile trousers and bruised my knee pretty bad coming off at 20-30mph. Didn't really slide very far, but to be honest I've ripped more than a "penny" sized hole in jeans by just falling over as a kid.

I want to get the Kevlar hoody to go with the jeans to wear on sunny summer days when I meet my mates in the pub. Has anybody come off with the hoody on?
