Hi everyone

I've recently got my first motorbike, an old CG125.

I'm 22 in 10 days from now, but I got the bike today and I'm looking at insurance. I set the start date as today and the cheapest I can find TPF+T is £650. So I changed the start date of the insurance from the 23rd (When I'm 22) and it drops to £520!

I'm not entirely sure what to do. I've looked at temporary insurance, but the only one I can find is eBike, who want £220.

Any advice?

Haha, I thought that might be said.

I was thinking of getting the insurance now, and then just cancelling it on the 23rd and paying the fees. I did this on a car but insurance companies are a nightmare to deal with, in my experience.

Or don't waste money on fire and theft cover on an 'old cg'?

Can you not cancel it for free within 14 days?

What's the excess on the policy like? If you only paid a few hundred for the CG and the excess is something daft like £500 then just go with TPO.

Well, I was thinking of cancelling it within 14 days, as you get a cooling off period. Apparently I have to pay any administration charge they might make up.

Oh and, the reason for TPF+T on an old CG is that Bike Devil is offering no Excess on their cover, and TPO is only £200 cheaper (I payed quite a bit more then £200).

When I get the inevitable phone call tomorrow from them, I will see if I can get them to lower it at least a tad, and try and get a solid word on how much the cancellation within 14 days would be.
