I was looking for a DSLR after using one at my Brother's wedding just before the New Year. After much research, comparison and fretting, I opted for a recent model rather than the latest outpouring, finally purchasing a manufacturer refurb from the Canon outlet on Fleabay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/canon_uk1/m.html?[url]. I got a EOS 500 D with kit lens for £300. It was absolutely mint and was only showing 60 shutter operations.
My other option was https://www.bignorman.com/, but being after Christmas, wasn't holding much stock.
Beware if you find a deal that looks too good to be true. There are a number of very legit looking websites that when you are a clone of a genuine website. A quick google check flags up the punters who have come acrop bleating on the photography forums. ____________________ '82 C50, '81 CB100, '84 GS125, '95 NTV650, '00 Bandit 600, '06 SV650, '56 Z1000, '89 NTV600

Hi
While I have Canon equipment, I wouldn't disregard any of the major makes of dSLR. If you have access to Canon / Nikon / Sony lenses then it would make sense to stick with them.
The expensive bit is the lenses, and also they are the bit that hold their value. I would be inclined to spend the money on lenses.
Don't worry too much about mega pixels. Ceased to be a real issue ages ago!
All the best

This is a great site for second hand stuff.

Jesops were also doing a deal on a canon 500D recently that comes with the standard wide angle lense and a 70-300 mm zoom lense and all for under £500. I pick mine up about 3 months ago and I have been very happy with the setup, I even got a free class 10 4 gig card as they were running a promotion at the time. ____________________ I'm not as think as you drunk I am. |
