Posting this on behalf of my mate, he's sick. Parked our bikes up today at our mates and as I walked over to knock on I heard a crunch, ran back and there was his 675 lying on its side with my mucker head in hands. The street was on a bit of a bank so looks like the bikes weight has just moved the bike enough to fold the stand in.

It ruined the day especially for him. He'd just had a brand new Arrow fitted too. The crunch they make when they hit the deck is sickening. I was lucky because his bike fell about a foot away from mine. I want to do all I can to help him get it back to standard as I know he won't get back on until it is.

Damage - left mirror scratched, tank scratched but not dented, tail piece snapped, clutch lever snapped, bar end scratched.

Just wondering if any of you lot know other than eBay where we could get any bits from.

Thanks in advance

Been advised today by Stoke Triumph that the tail could be repaired using plastic wielding and the tank can be touched up.

Any reputable body-shop should have the tools and material to weld ABS.
It's a trade off between cost of new part probably Over £100 if it's from robbing cunts Triumph or the material and time to repair.
Some or most shops need to charge for the minimum amount of paints even though it's only a little spray job so repairs are often not much cheaper than new part.
Worth a try though.
I go the fairing on my bike fixed for under £130 but a new part would have cost near £500.
It's one of the reasons bike insurance is so high as dealers want to sell new parts rather than do the easy repairs.
Welded ABS is perfectly good as far as strength and finish is concerned.
You will have to go OEM for the lever from EBAY or dealer as pattern would look shite unless you get L&R.

Same for bar-end, grip and mirror.
Tank probably will need filling and re-spray if you get the tail repaired it makes the tank and tail cheap-er. As probably will use more of the smaller paint pot.

Not necessary to fix all at once. Do the worst bit first then save up for the other stuff as you go.

Doubt it's worth plastic welding the tail piece (would need a respray too) - get hunting on ebay and call a few salvage places before going down that route!

A mate of mine had the 675 'special', the white and blue one. About a week after he got it someone pulled out on him. It all got sorted though, thankfully.

Your a bit of a prick ain't ya really. Yes he did park it on a slight slope and yes it's an expensive learning curve but does he need dicks like you taking the piss. I just hope one day something of a similar nature happens then you might understand how he feels.

I put the post up on here not just to source advise and help off others but also to show "the brotherhood" what happens when you don't pay attention.

Have a re-think pal.

Horrible to see it, cant imagine he feels too good right now. From past experience I'd think;

Tank will be cheaper to sort than replace.

Rear cowl 'should' be cheaper to sort, Honda 600RRs are ~£240 for the rear cowl, I'd bet welding would beat that and the paint is the same as the tank.

Is the mirror a paint or replace job? I cant quite see if it's cracked in or just scuffed? If it's paint, then I'd paint that.

Grips - If he wants, Renthal grips for sports bikes are about £8 a pair, easy to fit and they're the same as the race bikes, might look nice with that colour scheme.

Levers - As others have said, I'd do a pair.

It's unfortunate and horrible when something like this happens. I find the easiest way to get over it is by adding some stuff you'd like to add as well, even if it is just little bits here and there.

I wish you and your mate the best with getting it sorted.

[sigh] ok. so...i think the humour is in the fact that herulach says the bike is fucked and offers him a fiver for it when clearly the bike isnt fucked. Far from it. Thats the point. He's not contradicting himself. Its a joke that puts the actual damage of the bike into perspective.

It goes without saying that pointing out the mechanics of such humour makes it sound far less funny Rolling Eyes

It's not funny though. Even looking at it again, it isn't funny.
