I had in the beginning of March a small accident, a car pulled out from my left and knocked me down. The damage on the bike wasn't so serious I fixed myself with max £200 (new handlebars, front indicators, front brake lever and pulse generator cover). When the engineer came to estimate the damage on my bike one month ago he put on the report cat C. The insurance procedure apparently it take quite a lot of time, the accident was in the beginning of march and they told me that the third party insurance refused to pay and they still have a deadline until 11th of July before they will go in court.

I have done an HPI check yesterday and all good, it doesn't appear write off. I had a MOT passed with no problem after two weeks from the accident and I've been riding it every day. I really found a good deal for a bike that I'm interested in and I want to sell my old one. I will make a good price for it, but is possible to sell it?

I never had a claim in my whole life and to be honest I'm tired to wait for them and I really want this new bike.

I am no expert so may be wrong, but we bought a cat d car and later sold it and i did look into it at the time. I think legally you must tell them its a cat c or d IF they ask. If not, legally, you dont have to tell them. However, personally i think its a pretty poor show if you do this. Plus, if the hpi status is updated and a buyer finds out before the deal is closed you could lose the buyer as he may be suspicious about why you witheld the information. I would be.

HTH.

From what I'm led to believe, and I could be wrong here, but you have to inform the new owner and it will show on the records as a cat c (maybe not now but at some point), if you were to sell the bike privately then it wouldn't be too much of a problem, not sure if you can use it as a deposit though

Well, I didn't say that I'm not gonna tell the buyer and I will make a special price for it coz I have to receive the money from the insurance anyway. I was just wondering if I can sell it when is under a claim.
