Anybody know anything about these? Can't find much in the way of stats. About all I've discovered is that there aren't many about. This one's near me so I might have a looksee. Problem to maintain, rare parts?
WAZZAT?
Incidentally, I'm looking for a reliable and comprehensive bike stats website if you know one. |

NOT A HOPE!
It was the CB250S, with the XL250's Radial Four Valve Head. Bumped power from about 20bhp to MAYBE 25, and offers real world 80mph performance.
Back-to-back against the contemprary CB250N Super-Dream, which knocked out 27bhp with three valve heads from the twin-cylinder counterbalenced engine, it was applauded for being everything the 'Dream wasn't. Light, nible, agile, and responsive, but JUST as 'slow'.
£500? Seems reasonable for one.
Personally though, I think I would put my spend elsewhere. They aren't THAT exiting, or THAT cheap, or THAT easy to live with.

Everything I've read suggests they'd manage a ton with 31hp. The CB250RS which came before it with 26hp would have done 90 surely? |

Thanks all of you for comments and link to MCS page (I've been there once back when I started looking and missed it this time round for some reason). I wish there was a quote-all button and I'd respond to different bits, but I think I've pretty well made up my mind. I suspected the parts might be a problem, and this did it loud and clear:

Yeah, I noticed the Clubman had higher power spec somewhere too.
In addition to the parts problem, that review at MCS mentions two big flaws, the over-gearing making top almost useless and 100mph a laugh (not that I want 100mph), and the vibration, which is probably more of an issue, not just for comfort but for the extra wear of those nightmare-to-find parts.
I'd get a standard RS a lot cheaper I presume, but I quite fancy a 250 twin instead, maybe a CB250W I think it is - the later semi-cruiser, Two-Fifty/Nighthawkish thingumajig. More parts and later production. Sod 100mph, I'd rather have a nighthawk than a nightmare. Suzuki GN250 perhaps on the radar too. And this Yamaha SR looks rather devilish.  Dig that plate! |

Whatever the horsepower, mine has enough grunt to go faster than a superdream. I have raced the same pooper twice on the same bit of road. It's a roundabout linked dual carriageway and I toasted him easy.
He was abit bigger than me but still ate my dust like the pooper lover he is. I suspect with my lighter wheels and superior suspension my RSA would leave him pointing at hedges in every corner, whilst I with more ground clearance wouldn't be leaving a trail of sparks towards said hedge.

I've gone off it - vibes, rare, low mpg, nickable, don't like the sound (on youtube) and I always feel that a nicely restored bike should go to someone who's dedicated to keeping it nice - I don't wreck bikes if I can help it, but I'm after something I can hack creatively.
Since I checked out different bikes at https://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/ (not forgetting to set "UK" units or everything is depressingly low), I'm rather reluctant to switch from my CBR125 to anything else! I must start recording my fuel stops - I thought it was somewhere in the mid-60s, but it should be nearer 100! That site makes interesting reading for anyone who says "It doesn't matter what bike you get; economy is most affected by how you ride it" (presumably people at fuelly are interested in economy no matter what size their bike, but they consistently fail to get much of it on bigger bikes, "in the real world". Anyway, that's another argument.  |
