Just wondering what minimum hp for 125 A2 test bike would be. Not all 125s appear to be on dot list of approved bikes. Would 11hp be enough?

I don't this theres a minimum HP requirement. The bike has to be a 125 and must be able to do 62.5 MPH (100KPH), I think.

There is no A2 'test' there isn't even an A2 licence catagory.... yet.
That comes in with 3rd directive test laws next year.
You will have to have a 395cc machine, over I think 30Kw or something like that, to test for it, after holding an A1 licence 2 years, so you would have to be 19+ having passed A1 at 17+. Though some suggestion there 'may' be a direct access to A2, though no details, as yet.
What you MEAN is 'Standard-Bike' test to qualify for Full Agroup licence with 2 year 33bhp power restriction. What we have now if you test on a 125, meeting DSA requirements, which I believe merely call for the bike to be capable of 72Kmh or something like that.
Power is irrelevant; you need about 9bhp to go 60, but also the gearing.
DSA approval list is not 'gospal', up to you to assure bike meets requirements if not on list.

Congratulations on asking a completely correct and precise question, A2 is indeed (currently) a DSA classification of test bike. Thumbs Up

Presumably you've seen the DSA list of A1 and A2 bikes?

If your bike's not on there, then I suspect it'll just be down to luck as to whether you get a jobsworth or a shrugger. I got a shrugger, shame as I'd turned up with a printout of the list showing my bike as A2. Very Happy

If you've got some Zing Ping Mirthjoy bike, I'd suggest that you just de-badge it for the test, and slap a "HONDA" decal on it.

Or you could email someone at the DSA and ask them to confirm that your bike is valid...

Hi Andy,
I have been researching information concerning your Aprilia Classic 125 and have found the specifications on the official Aprilia website.

As you state in your email, the Aprilia Classic 125 fitted with the Dell’Orto PHBL 24 carburettor has a power output of 11kW. If your machine meets this specification then it would be suitable for the category A2 test. You will however require bona fide evidence from a dealer of this restriction when you attend for test.
