what bike next???

I’m thinking of selling my ktm 625 smc but I’m not sure what to go for next?
I’ve had the ktm for about a year now before that I have only had inline fours so I’m thinking maybe a v twin of some kind.

I do like the in line fours and I sometimes miss the high revving rush that you get from them near the top end but I find that they can lack in character where as on the other hand the big single has bags of character but I’m limited on the distance that I can travel.
Also I bought the ktm because my ridding buddy’s had similar bikes but now they have either sold them or converted back to road bikes.
Anyone have any suggestions on what I could be looking at?

so far I liking the Ducati 748 or maybe the Aprilia RSV.
max spend about 2.5k to 3k.
