Had a search and saw the last weight loss thread was 4 years and 66 days old...

Anyway, couldn't find another one so i've made a new one.

Anyone made any progress over the last wee while? Everyone's losing weight these days Laughing

Back in December, I looked at some photos and realized i needed to lose some beef. I hadn't even looked at a set of scales up till then, and was shocked to see that i weighed 17st 7. i'm 6'2" and 20 years old - that's not on.

So had a brief conversation with my GP who gave my hip the all clear to beast it at the gym.

This is what i looked like last year.

https://sphotos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/380561_10150523396594697_1247015923_n.jpg
https://sphotos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/374226_10151131439810176_860765009_n.jpg

Not the prettiest thing in the world

So i started the gym, really went for it and lost 2 stone in the first month.

I then got my personal plan set out by one of the trainers, which was mostly weights with some interval training for cardio thrown in.

So now we're up to May, i've still got a long way to go but i'm sitting at a steady 14st. Muscle mass has shot up in the past wee while and i'm losing fat but putting on muscle, so my weight doesn't seem to be changing Laughing

This is where i'm sitting now.

Come on, share the results!

I lost about 6 stone last year...put most of it back on now. Got fed up of going to the gym 2/3 times a week and eating nothing but chicken breast!

Need to get my BMI under 30 (not sure what it is now, not got on the scales for a while), but apart from that I'm not too fussed anymore, much happier being my current weight (19/20 stone, 6ft 4). Luckily as I'm tall it doesn't really show, so not a problem.

Makes me cringe looking at these Thumbs Down, but 2 years ago:

Total 3.5 stones gone in 2 years..... feb-march saw me depressively drinking myself into oblivion and putting weight on, but I have lost 7lbs since April so im back on it and working hard at the gym.

In 2010 I realised that I needed to get into shape, as I'd put on a fuckton of weight after quitting smoking in 2008, and I wasn't slim to begin with!
I was approaching 18 stone Neutral So I started walking every day..which helped, and I lost a whole stone in 2010 lol in my defence I did injure my foot in the middle of the year which put a real downer on walking, let alone anything else
In 2011 I decided to actually get serious and started dieting properly, and took up running..was more walk than run to start with but over time I got better.
I am now 13stone, and slowly dropping..as I am not really dieting anymore, just eating more sensibly overall. I think I have reached a good balance at last. I eat healthy most of the time, but still have the odd treat and I don't put any weight on, as my metabolism is improved and general overall fitness.
Just decided to add press ups and sit ups daily into the mix as my arm and belly muscles could do with improvement.

Just don't push yourself too hard. It's better to go steady and be able to maintain it, than to be intense and get injured or give up! Walking/Running it's real easy to get a blister, so if that takes a couple days to heal then you've lost far more exercise than could possibly could have gained by pushing that bit too hard.

not long started training again after having a prob with my shoulder (trapped nerve in my neck = screwed shoulder muscles and absolute agony)

i was unable to do much more than lay flat on my back for 2 months as if i sat up and put any weight on my neck it would pinch the nerve and spasm all down my shoulder and arm.

i've only put on about 1/2st as i never go nuts on food but i have been eating the wrong things lately.

now im back training i need to sort it out. i've resorted my diet and im back at the gym plus my normal training routine so yeh i suppose im back to losing weight again. just not much.

Seems my body has decided on a shape. The shape is round.

Since quitting smoking when Mrs Pinky was preggers with little baby satan I've turned into a lard ball. I could probably get rid of it but that would require effort, for which I lack serious motivation.

I keep intending to get back on the pushbike, but really can't be arsed, as I've got to pay for a secure lockup for it at work.
As a result, no; I remain my normal cuddly acerbic self.

i've never touched a treadmill.

That's the one thing my GP said not to go near, due to the impact on the hip. That would mean very bad news for me Laughing

If you are genuinely telling the truth and not exaggerating, I would go to your GP.

OK, I decided to jump on the scales. I knew it was going to be high, but its 131kg (20st 8lbs). My biggest was 135.6kg (21st 5lbs), so not put it all back on! I had managed to get down to 101kg (15st 12lbs). But that was horrible! As I posted above.

I need to get down to around 110kg (17st 4lbs) for the Police, so cutting all the crap out of my diet (I ate 4 bags of Maltesters, 5 packets of Softmints, and 2 packets of rolos today, and thats not much for me!).

Also, going back to the gym tomorrow. I need to run 1.5 miles in 12 minutes, OR get to level 9.2 on the bleep test. The 1.5 miles I'm not too fussed about, its the bleep test I'm not looking forward to if I have to do that! So, my plan is to do a 15 minute jog at 6mph as a warm up (1.5 miles), then 45 minutes on the bike (no idea how far, around 11/12 miles roughly). Then next time up the speed a bit (0.5mph) after a three times. Hopefully it won't kill me, not been to the gym for a while!

Running to get used to it again, biking to shift the weight. Not going to bother with weights really. Upper body strength I've never had a problem with. Although, might do a little bit nearer the time as I need to push/pull 70kg (shouldn't be a problem, but just incase).

Hopefully it shouldn't take me too long to drop the weight, aiming for 1kg a week.

Introducing some resistance training will enable you to drop the weight a lot quicker. Its not all about increasing strength when weight lifting.

Am 5'10"
A year ago I was around 15 and a half stone. Fat shit. Makes me cringe just looking at old photos, you don't realise how bad it is until you see third person.

Went to all sorts of weight loss and trainer. Didn't do anything for me, just made me eat just as much.

For less than a year now I have really become 'in control' of my food. I don't know why but it just cliked and now:

Just checked the scales 12 stone 2 lbs. I feel great for it. I can see bones I didn't know I had no pun intended. Just a pitty that I am absolutely covered in stretch marks since when I was 16 and a half stone about 4 years ago. Once you got them, no going back Crying or Very sad

Not been going to the gym, just controlling eating. It's been long; but I must say easy too looking back lol. Need to start running now though..

Started on April 1st as a joke, so in about just over 50 days I've lost over 1.7 stone, if I've converted correctly. I use kilos (108+ down to 97 atm). So I must be doing something right. Promised the misus a six pack in 18 months. Got 16 left. Hope it's achievable.

She told me she'd break up with me if I fail. I'm planning on breaking up with her if I succeed.

Currently on 3-4 sessions in the gym a week, high protein intake, no bread, pasta, nothing sweet. And some special green tea that the future ex gave me, worked like a miracle on her Wink

Funny, ive started making an effort to gain weight Laughing When i weighed myself about 3 months ago i was 9stone 11.
Generally ive stopped eating crap like crisps and buscuits, which il usually eat to stop me feeling hungry, which isnt really adding to my weight at all. Its a great to feel that your doing yourself a favour whenever you buy a take away or go into mc donalds Very Happy
My plan is to gain a lot more weight, then start going to the gym and generally exercise more.
