Having passed my test last year, I borrowed some kit so I'm now looking for a jacket and trousers with a max budget of £350. I want to get the best I can for that budget and cannot go over that.

It must be safety first, comfortable, waterproof and look good.

In another thread, I have mentioned the Weise Physo set https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/23959

They are a leather/textile hybrid and the jacket comes with a back protector.

Do these look decent or can you suggest alternatives?

Thanks.

RST Pro series, will set you back about £200, spend the rest on a couple of decent sets of gloves.

I can recommend the RST Slice jacket and trousers. I have them and love them. Very good quality, comfy, protection in the back, elbows, shoulders and knees, and all round good reviews online. Oh and also you get a 1 year warranty with all RST gear.

I also recommend the slice. Have the jacket, will be getting the trousers in the coming weeks. Very comfortable and feels really well made.

Thanks, I like the look of the Slice kit. I don't want anything power rangery.

Would you prefer textiles over leather then?

Also, is the RST generally a good starting point for getting some decent kit?

The slice comes in two types - Textiles and Leather.

I have the leather jacket, and will be getting the leather trousers. All black with a white RST logo.

Leather > Textiles though.

Hein Gericke have a spend £160 get £40 off on all HG branded kit.

Buy the jacket in one transaction, get 40 quid off.
Buy the pants in another - 40 quid off
and so on

I bought me a new jacket (£150) and the nikwax stuff (£10) for 130 quid last week. Thumbs Up

Whatever you get I recommend you try before you buy. Even if buy online try to find in a shop first.

I mention this as bike clothing sizes are not standard. For example, one make's XL isn't the same as another. One of the reasons I have been told is that much is manufactured in the far east where body styles are different to European body shapes.

My gear tends to gravitate to Hein Gericke. It's made for the European market so fits ok. When I started out I used to think they were expensive. However, having taken the plunge the kit is very well made and they do offer a variety of styles for various uses. It's more of an investment as my kit has just lasted without any serious wear and tear.

HTH Thumbs Up

Ha, nice.

Went to the local bike shop earlier, but no RST kit in, but loads of Frank Thomas - what's that like?

So far, I'm leaning towards RST Slice textiles. Haven't read anything bad yet.

Get RST. I've had loads of their stuff for years, it's great. Have Alpinestars boots though.

I wouldn't buy Frank Thomas. Not heard too many good things about them, and they look quite cheaply made. That being said, I think they've been around for quite sometime.
