DVLA - Another cock up

I received a letter from our chums at the DVLA this morning informing me that they've found an error in my records.
Apparently I need to send them both parts of my licence so that they can add the fact that I wear glasses/contact lenses when driving.

But I don't.

Perhaps another worrying sign of Big Brother at work and they have correlated some (confidential) medical records which show I wear glasses (but only for VDU use) and now want to stick their fat noses where they don't belong.

Although the letter states that it "requires me to take action regarding my driving licence" I think it's just another load of bollocks and shall treat it accordingly.

Until it arrives recorded delivery, I'll keep filing these in my shredder.

I don't see why they cant just send you an amended licence and ask you to destroy the old one? Would save me the hassle of finding the paper counterpart or sending that letter back saying I've lost it

gosh you learn something new everyday. I din't even know it was recorded on your licence if you wear glasses.

My mrs wears glasses and i've not noticed anything different on her paperwork.

Nothing on the mrs' licence to indicate she's a glasses wearer unless its hidden in one of the code numbers.

She's worn them since she was little so learnt to drive and took a test with specs on. baffling ????

sounds like a scam to me - someone wants to get hold of your licence, identity theft? would be easy enough to make an official-lloking letter i'd have thought.

You will have Code 01 on your license if you wear glasses/contacts to drive. When you apply I remember there seems to be a tick box for it.

As an aside, if you have code 115, that means your organs will be harvested when you die.

I've had 3 letters so far saying I have to send my licence back to get a glasses code added to it. I've not replied to any and I don't intend to.
