Sachs Madass - Yay or Nay?

Been looking at these bikes recently and was wondering what is everyone elses opinion on them?

They seem cheap enough at only £2000 but was wondering about reliability issues. Apparently it is a German manufacturer who have been going for over 100 years but will they be manufactured in China now on the same production lines as all the other cheap bikes being distributed around the world today? The engines seem to be a wee 4 stroke 125, so should be more reliable than equivalant 2 stroke bikes.

Was just considering one of these for my short jaunt to work and back, of only 7 miles.

Never owned a new bike before and the thought of not having to MOT it for 3 years appeals to me - if it lasts that long. Will be cheap tax and insurance as well.

Does the pros outnumber the cons?
Or should I just stick with trouble-free Hondas?

I think they look awesome, but there's more chance of me winning the IOM TT on a C90, than me paying £2k for one.

No, whilst i like the madass for its unique look thats as far as it goes. I would pay £200 no more....and thats for a new one lol. If your looking for reliable and the budgets £2000 there are lots of options. The sachs is much better off as your mates bike that you admire when you're with him but laugh at him when he's not around.

It's a 'nice idea', but what you're getting is basically a pitbike, but heavier and generally not that well specced.

For £2k you can get a very good spec pitbike and make it road legal.

Not sure that there's that much difference between performance of most 125s so you're just in it for the looks. So if you like it, what the hell, do eet!

I wont touch Chinese stuff if my life was connected to using the product.
The country is rife with corruption. What you are buying or think you are buying. Could be a long way from what you get. Once they get corruption sorted. I can see them selling more bike's.

Btw, AlexW on here owned a Sachs, the XTC125 or whatever it was called - It was in a homosexual yellow colour, the fairings were held on with 2 or 3 bolts, All the bellypan did was to collect the oil that was leaking out of the engine etc etc, still a brilliant bike though - He could get 80 out of it

Get an NSR125, pocket a grand, learn alot more, have alot more fun, don't sound like a wet fart.

Or get a £500 cg, do your test, sell cg, have £1500 and buy a big bike.

I'd happily have one in the garage - it is wonderful in a 'form follows function' kind of way, and looks perfect for ramp-jumping over the neighbour's kids on the cul-de-sac.
