Just wondering how alone I was in this. I know the convention is to wear motorcycle boots outside the trousers but with my first pair of leathers I found this to be a bit uncomfortable so took to wearing the trousers outside the boots.

With my new pair of leathers though it's the other way around, so I'm a bit contrary.

You?

Always outside. I would have to wear the most huuuge flares in order to get my boots under.

With my textile trousers I wore them inside my boots once, it rained and I got wet feet. Rolling Eyes I probably didn't strap the boots tightly enough or something, but textiles outside the boots, leathers inside the boots I reckon.

Edit: if I'm feeling lazy and wearing jeans, they have to go inside as they've no straps to tighten them, meaning you get a brisk breeze running up your legs.

My Leathers are tucked inside my boots, feels more comfortable that way and doesn't restrict movement of my ankle etc so I can change gear easily.

Its the other way round for textile ones as I wanna keep my feet waterproof!

I was always told leathers always go inside the boots, as sleves go into gloves. It stops the leaters catching and rideing up the limb while slideing.
Waterprofes go over the top, this stops water running down into your boots/gloves making your feet/hands cold.

I have textile overtrousers, which I wear outside the boots, to stop the rain running down into the boots (and also because they would be quite uncomfortable inside the boots!).

I tend to wear my under trousers (usually Jeans), inside the boots.

If I'm riding in jeans (shock shock horror!), I'll have them outside the boots.

Same goes for when I'm wandering around - jeans outside boots.

Same as Craggles although I find that bike boots are not the most comfortable footwear when wandering around on foot

Leathers, zipped down outside my army boots so they don't fill up with water.

They don't ride up your legs when you slide along the road at speeds up to and including 70mph, I know because I tried Neutral

Leathers and textile trousers will fit better if they're inside the boot, they're designed to fit you and not your boot.

Boots inside. There is no way in hell my textile trousers are going inside my boots. The tops of the boots would have to be as wide as a bin rim. I don't own leathers, I'd look extremely silly. Thumbs Down

I bought a pair of Alpinestars boots and they are quite tight around the leg and ankle but I feel they are a great fit without my leathers tucked into them if I tuck my leathers into them I find the leathers have to have a small fold in them to make them fit into the boots but the folds create extra tension on my legs and is quite uncomfortable but I will just wear them around for a while and try to get them to stretch a little or maybe have a leathersmith take half and inch of diameter out of the ankle/calf portions of the leather trousers so they fit more snug and don't require folding

This has to be some kind of record.

Interesting to see some ancient avatars though, particularly Demonic69's and I hadn't realised Ste has had his over 10 years.

Boots outside leathers, but inside textiles.

Either/or with my kevlar jeans though, depending on which boots I'm wearing.

Ten years ago I didn't own anything but leathers, which I would wear inside my boots. (Still do).
Today's textiles I wear with the thermal layer and jeans inside the boots, textile trousers outside.
Now I've answered please answer me a question.
