Just on my way back from work along the A40 (Llandovery to Abergavenny) and overtaking all the cars along the route as normal, and I see a ride out with a group of around 12 bikers. I was thinking "Great, this will be fun" having never gone riding with anyone, ever.. it would be cool to experience a group.

Anyway... caught up to them, and within 20 seconds realised they rode slower on their bikes than most of the cars were going... Was a pain in the ass getting past them all too, blipped past around 3-4 quite quickly then got stuck behind the rest on the corners. They managed to waste about 5 of my fave corners coming into Brecon. Evil or Very Mad

Got to the dual carriageway and......................... I was fucking gone!

Need to meet up with some faster riders, starting to get bored on my own. I'm average in my books (still have little bit of chicken strips left) but in their book i'm Valentino Rossi.

Going fast isn't everything mate (just ask the missus). I'd doubt that they thought you were Rossi either, if they thought of you at all.

Think about a track day if you've got the speed bug - loads of folk on here to ask about them.

Fuck off.

Its not about the speed bug, its about getting "held up".

@op,

I know what you mean mate. It happens to the best of us. Turn around, go back, do it again Very Happy

Nothing about speed mate. I'm not a speed deamon. I was stuck behind the most boring group on earth. I rarely go above 85/90.

Why didn't I think of that?? To be fair I was roasting today, just wanted to get home and take my gear off.

I like riding slow because that way I get to stay on the bike for longer.

I know that bit of road quite well as have been along there quite a few times in the past. What I do remember is that if you get caught behind slower moving traffic, like a convoy of caravans or a tractor pulling a trailer,it is quite infuriating to get held up.

But to get held up by bikers going at what sounded like below what would be called a reasonable pace would really tick me off as well.

if you're bored when you have a ride out it's your fault, not anybody else on the road.
How long did you experience these pisspots who weren't as good as you on a bike, 30 secs, 1 minute, if that made you bored get a car or something cos you'll get it regularly.
Get back on your 5 favourite corners in Brecon and do 'em so your not bored.
Seen loadsa people who are 'gone' on dual carriageways, boring.
Yeah you probably are average, but that's life, in their book you're probably a tit. Get out and be more than average and stop whining about people doing thier own thing, It's in your hands in the end.

Alright grandad.

Big difference between riding speed limits and riding at 30-40mph on 60/70 roads holding everybody up.

Anyway, it was a few days ago now so don't really care anymore. Just got on my nerves on the day, being the first sunny day in ages and the plebs were out.

I retain my right to whine about anyone I feel like whining about, and I may have some cheese with my whine.

I do groups and singles, 3-4 is the best number for a spirited ride or a womble.

when we are going slow it is because we are enjoying the scenery and chatting on the radios enjoying the music too, when we are going faster we are enjoying the roads, chatting less, but still enjoying the music.

I know what you mean OP.

I'm not overly fast paced, but do get held up on the road to Hastings/Camber which has some nice roads because born again Barry and his R1 can't go round corners without standing the bike up, or tries to fly away in 6th rather than dropping a few gears and giving some beans.

But, I do regularly get outpaced by younger riders...maybe they are just reckless. Or I'm way too pussy Laughing

That's what big V twin Adventure Tourers are for, 6th gear grunt with two up. Thumbs Up i can't be doing with all that reving the knackers off in 3rd just to get to the next set of traffic lights one tenth of a second quicker. I would rather feel the torque of the bike working. I love going up very steep hills with tight hair pin bends just to feel that ggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr from the engine.

I think of bikes like horses, race horses for speed but don't do much other than that of big Shire horses of a bike to do everything else.

They possibly had a 125 in the group. I'm sure your keen obs would have spotted it.

I ride the A40 commuting on my 125, often frustrated at cars going 40 instead of 60 Mad Bikes going that slow would really annoy me too. I'd be gone, as quick as my lump will take me (65 tops) Laughing

Indicated 65mph. Throttle welded open. Nada use of brakes and a little counter steering.

Cool
