I'd appreciate some ideas please. I bought my CM250 recently and never had any bike brake or bearing problems on previous bikes so I'm a bit clueless. The guy who sold it to me said his mechanic had over adjusted the rear brake but I think he made it noisy to cover up another issue on the front wheel. I took my other half on the back for the first time and the front wheel constantly made a high pitched whine. How would I check whether I have bearing probs or could this be something else?

Any suggestions please???

Thanks!

Could be a shim missing behind the brake pads. Get the front wheel of the ground and grab it and give it a wiggle from top to bottom and side to side. Any play or clunk?

Easy to feel if the wheel bearings are on there way out. As said, when it's off the ground grip the top and bottom of the wheel and attempt to twist it from side to side, any play you should feel.

Spin the wheel and see if you can hear anything. There will be a 'swishing' noise from the pads touching the disc so you might find it easier to remove the calipers before you do this.

Speedo drive maybe worn or even the cable could be dry and making the noise.

I would just be inclined to just change the wheel bearings and try again. It's not a difficult or big job. If are going to do them yourself, buy them from a bearing supplier not Honda, it will cost you a damn sight less!
