Enough said?
I've walked further than that since early 2011, they're not exactly the sort of bikes you buy for a weekend bit of fun either.

I think I did 3 or 4 times that on my CG in the first month of ownership, it's the sort of thing that 125 owners do, it's often your first proper vehicle.

If you've not heard of it, then generally avoid. Even if you come across an obscure make that is not chinese, the chances are part supply will be an issue.

In this case its a cheapo chinese knock off of a CG125 or something. Avoid.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Should be plenty of "opportunities", but... parts are readily available, and there's not that much on them to go wrong.

I can't speak to any particular model, but you could try reviewcentre. Be aware that the SK125 Commisioner and SK125-5 Patriot are listed as A1 bikes by the DSA. The SK125A Pharoh and "Viper" 125 are listed as A2.

In a way, you'd be better getting a 3 year old one with a fresh MOT, but if you're quite risk tolerant, fancy getting your hands mucky, and get lucky, and can find someone who will insure it without mugging you, and you keep it in good nick and sell it on before it falls apart... Very Happy

My first post here, was googling Sukida's as have just bought one.

It's a 125-2 Pharaoh, 08 reg and only 550km on the clock. It's my first bike, (40 year old newbie) and must say not a bad bargain at 350 quid. It's in good nick now and I know it's going to need major TLC to make it last more than a few years, but to be honest if it lasts me till I pass my DSA i'll be happy and money well spent for the road experience.

I guess my point was, a bike like this depends on your budget and objectives. This is a short term stepping stone to something better, so didn't want to spend too much. In my opinion, this is just as 'good' a ride as the Yam 125 i did my CBT on (the electric start had already failed on that).

Hi all, BTW Smile

I bought a brand new CG clone in 2006 for £450 - that price included assembly, PDI, helmet, Oxford chain & padlock.
Served me well on my old commute although it ended up a bit tatty and rusty - I sold it late last year for around £430 and kept the helmet/lock. Win.

Ok, I take most of that back. On the run home from visiting a friend tonight and the bloody headlight fell out of the casing. The two screws that hold it in from underneath must have shaken loose as it had survived 30 miles of riding only to give up 1 mile from home.

Was a really nice ride up till that point, am loving this biking lark.

Now need to find a replacement glass or full headlight unit. Wonder if a honda one will fit, looks similar enough.

Shortest. Honeymoon. Ever. Very Happy

You do need to budget for ACF-50, LocTite and spring washers when you take one on, and carrying cable ties can't hurt.

I'm quite serious, when I got my HN125-8, I went over every obvious nut and bolt and secured them. Better doing it in your garage than scrabbling around at the roadside.

CMPO sell headlights, but I'd expect that you can find a salvage or generic light for less. Also, depending on the mounts, you may be able to fit a 7" or 8" round headlight, which IMO would look nicer.

Haha, more like a lovers tiff, we had a make-up ride again today and it's all roses again.

Thanks for the tips though Rogerborg, will take that advice and give it a good seeing to. Whilst making a temporary bodge fix of clear tape over the remains of the glass and gaffer tape around the housing, I gave it a good look over and came to the same conclusion that pretty much any aftermarket round lamp 'should' fit, so ebay here I come.
