Potentially riding from Bath to Swansea next week, and once I'm in Wales I really don't fancy riding on the M4, so what's a decent route?

At O you can drag it across to the A470 which is an epic road but shorter and ignore P

Cheers for that, but it's a bit long - I was hoping to keep it short whilst still getting in some decent roads.

What do you think to this?

The Bwlch (A4061 - A4107) is a great road, it's shut this Saturday because of the Olympic torch passing through the Rhondda. You could M4 it to Llantrisant (A4119) and follow the bypass up to Tonypandy and follow your planned route from there which would be quicker than travelling through Ponty in rush hour as there's road works everywhere at the moment.

You can gun it across the Bwlch, just watch out for lose chippings on some corners. Sometimes there's a mobile speed camera at the bottom of the mountain (Cymmer side) so be careful of that to.

Best road in Wales is the one out of it......(Not at all true, I have had so much fun on old mountain roads and ISDT routes, I love Wales)

So like this? https://g.co/maps/urvwe

Thanks for the advice, it's handy to ask people because even google street view can't tell you everything about a road. I don't want the route to take too much longer but I cba with doing 70 miles of motorway in one go!

Head to Caerphilly in the early evening to watch some dogging and then take a trip over the Neath bank down to the M4 in the dark. A great road best driven at speed in the dark. Thumbs Up

James

*Edit*
It's pronounced Ton-er-pandy, just so you know. Laughing

Sweet cheers Thumbs Up

Next thursday afternoon if I do go, which is more of a 'can I afford the fuel to visit' thing more than anything. Shouldn't get lost as long as I have signal on my phone Laughing but I'll let you know how I find it!

Thanks Karma

Funny & true story... Had some bird phone me in work the other night, I asked for the customer's name and she told me Tony Pandy... I stifled my giggles (as that could technically BE someone's name) right up until she admitted her mistake and gave my some lady's name instead who lived in Tonypandy...

...Maybe you had to be there? Confused
