Whats a SV650 Sport like

As per title , I have seen one local 2001 for £1100
Are they up to much as a everyday bike but what about giving them some.

Is it worth looking at it, looks quite clean

Sounds quite cheap to me, take into consideration the mileage, and general condition. Also check if it's been in a smash or nicked.

I did wonder if the 'Sport' tag was only the later (K series) fully faired ones actually.

Nope the S is the half faired curvys too. differences off top of my head iirc were clip ons, footpegs in diff position and 1 tooth on rear sprocket, oh and of course the bikini fairing, although you could spec them from factory with the genuine lowers.

Whats an SV650 Sports?

A dream usually, if you are thinking of sporty handling and speed.

Its just got the full kit on there. I had an SV650s, it was the curvy one also. Just no lower fairings.

they are brilliant as an everyday bimbler, but for the love of god don't try and ride one like a sports bike, brakes which may as well be made of cheese, and suspension which resembles a sponge cake which has falled in bowl of washing up liquid.

Brand new pads, Goodridge braided lines, fluid is a year old, they are still shite, I would like to say I am comparing them to the 4 pot twin Brembos on my Duke, but I am not, my CG stops better and is more confidence inspiring than the SV.

For an everyday bike I quite like it, comfortable, easy to ride everywhere, it does exactly what it is supposed to for reasonable money.

What pads?

They are never going to be amazingly sharp, but should have enough power when well serviced.

I always thought that 'sport' was a terrible misnomer for the SV. 'Faired' and 'Half-Faired' are far more accurate terms. You need to throw a fair bit of cash at an SV to make it appreciably sporty.

As a day-to-day hack, it's pretty good; not fast enough to make me likely to lose my license, but not quite so slow as to bore the hell out of me. Having said that, I'm not exactly the fastest rider out there.

The suspension's a bit meh if you're looking to throw it into corners at speed, but a relatively inexpensive upgrade will sort that. The brakes are fine, although I'm told they tend to fur up a bit, which is why I'm looking to strip and clean mine soon.

I've got a pointy, and it does what I ask of it. No idea what the curvy ones are like, aside from looking like they've been partially digested.
