Jesus, the last thing I'd want to do if I came off and hurt myself badly is call my mum.

What was he wearing? T-shirt and shorts? I wouldn't say he was asking for it but what a stupid thing to wear when going out on a bike.

Oh and he screams like a girl.

Red deer are very common up here and had a few scares with them running in front of me. That thing looked tiny, the thought of hitting a red deer aint pleasant when you see the state of the cars after they have hit one. Normally its bad in winter at night when you just see their eyes but have had them eating the grass out side my house. Laughing

Ouch!

I was thinking about animal impacts. Luckily I don't think Sweden makes any motorcycles. I dread to think what they'd look like if they had to undergo the 'Saab Elk test' (e.g. click here - video at 3'10").

Very Happy

Same.

It took me about 6 hours from crashing before I told my mum. She'd been home for 4 of them. Laughing

And the Oscar goes to.... Cool

I was just wondering, why didn't he use the phone right after he went down? I thought, that americans lived on these things. And why did he laid him self right in the middle of the road or why didn't he try to avoid the crash? Rolling Eyes Insurance fraud or inattentive American, hmm? Laughing

Isn't he in the US?
It's not surprising he doesn't want a 911 call if he has no health insurance.

The equivalent in the UK would be calling the police if you crashed without motor insurance.

Actually, the _maximum_ fine for riding without motor insurance is £5k (and it's usually in the hundreds or less).

I wouldn't like to ponder how much ambulance + emergency care costs if you have to pay for it up front. I'd probably want to research my options as well.

He did go hospital though, I repost " Ended up in the hospital for 4 days. 6 permanent screws and a plate holding my ankle together,2 fractures to my should as well as torn muscle. To top that off had massive swelling/bruising on my hip from landing." "

Probably cost a good 50k without insurance over there Rolling Eyes

Hopefully that has knocked some sense into him, literally. Maybe he will wear some proper gear next time.

Also, he must have rather bad reaction times, cos, whilst he might not be able to avoid it by swerving... if he'd hit the brakes in time, which was easily possible, he'd have slowed down enough that the deer would have passed him before he hit it.

He definitely could crawl away, I had hole i my leg and I could get of the road, it was on a moutain bike, my foot slipped off the pedal and the front sprocket sliced into my leg, I don't know if it counts Laughing

And yes, I do think, that he could avoid the crash. I'm not sure where he was looking, but definitely not where he went. Cool

Bit harsh...many would say no sympathy for you if you hurt yourself whilst riding a motorbike, gear or no gear. The risk he was taking was only slightly larger than the risk you take by riding your bike in the first place.

Anyway, what a little bitch. Can't believe he put it on YouTube...could have least dubbed over a different soundtrack with him being all heroic and calm.

I'd disagree strongly with that.

I would say most people on here have seen motorcycle racing at some point or another, ergo we've seen a racer crash. The fact they can crash at high speed and walk away shows the kit does a very effective job.

(I know crashing on a racetrack and crashing on a road are very different, but that's not the point I'm making, and it's also not a very relevant point, because the main dangers of the road compared to the track are "roadside furniture", i.e. lampposts, kerbs, trees, parked cars etc... he didn't hit anything like that, he just hit the tarmac, at a slower speed than a rider would probably lowside in BSB/WSBK/MotoGP)

So if he had been wearing decent kit, he'd most likely have picked himself up, brushed himself off and gone to check the bike.
