Well i'm pretty much fed up with my 250 2 stroke (running costs and maintenance), so i'm looking at getting something bigger. I only want something i can get about on in the week and have fun with my mate's on the weekend. I was looking at a gpz500s at first but what put me off was that they aren't much more powerful than my tzr250 so i would get bored quickly, so been looking around and i've seen a few zzr600's up for sale and going by reviews they are good fast bike's and much faster than my 250, figures say the have 100bhp and top out at about 150-160mph which is more than enough for me. Also says they are good for long journeys which i will need it for mostly so is why a full on sports bike is out the question.

Any one else have some input in this, is it a good bike and maybe some of you can anser from experience.

Much appreciated Thumbs Up .

Great bikes which many wrongly slag off purely due to their age and style. They arn't as sporty as modern sports bikes, but with a skilled/expirenced rider you can expect to be able to keep up wth any other 600 on the road.

They make good commuters too! Think of it like you would a thundercat...a day to day bike thats great fun at the weekends too! Very Happy

So long as you are comfortable with the size of the thing and the riding position (lets face it, after a TZR250, anything bigger than a 125 is gonna feel huge Laughing) then you should have no problems with the bike, they are reliable and a pittance to run compaired to a 2 stroke 250 Thumbs Up

Thanks DaFrostyOne you're a star, sounds like a good bike then so i may go for it soon.

Got to agree the tzr250 is tiny, i'm just 6 foot and look ridiculous on it (look at pic in profile).

Am i going to be too big for the zzr, well as long as it's bigger than the tzr Very Happy , i will be happy.

Thanks again Thumbs Up .

I would've bought one - and I'm 6'2" - I ended up buying my fave GPZ900 though.

Massively underrated bikes IMHO - massively capable too - razzing and touring, whatever you like.

Get a quote of https://www.insurance2000.co.uk/ for it, i found from them it's £300 cheaper than bennetts, for me anyway (17 almost 18 years old, 1 years NCB). And the insurance for me is the same as what it would cost for a vfr400, which shall i go for Thinking Very Happy .

ZZR600's are brilliant bikes, can crack 150MPH still and was one of the first bikes to do so.

They are very comfortable and the weight of them really isn't an issue unless your really weak or something.

There cheaper to run than any other 600, there only grp 13 insurance too!

If you do decide on getting one then check the cush drive rubbers are ok, as if there not it can cause a very interesting gear change!

Just to point out too the picture you posted is of a ZZR600D2 Wink.

Hi

Yes they are a good bike. They were the first production 600 to break 150mph (just), but far from the first bike to do so.

Handling wise you will probably find it a bit of a wallowing barge after the TZR250, but then that would apply to loads of bikes.

The Thundercat comparison is probably a good one, although the ZZR is definatly less sporting than that.

All the best

Keith

The only fault i can find in the bike is the seat, the pillion seat should be removable, but thats just my opinion Wink

They did same to me when my 'Blade insurance came round for renewal, they wouldn't budge at all either, it's apparently due to the fact they've lost their most competetive underwriter (AXA). As a result im now with MCE.
