TBH by the time you've been and bought some chemical remover you could have done a good job of sanding it right back. Start with aliminium oxide and work your way up through the grades of wet and dry till all the paints gone and its smooth all over. Easy really.

Nitromors WAS good. The old version before the nice burny DCM was banned works a treat (banned but can be bought in pure form on eBay?! Smile). The new enviro friendly version is widely regarded as shit though.

Anyway, paint stripper should get it off, whether it will or not depends on the stripper you choose. OLD nitromors is good, I haven't tried any DCM free paint strippers to comment but SURELY one must work.

They do work, just take longer...some more than others.

I've also found warming the metal up a bit with a heat gun helps too. I'm stripping the powder coat off an mtb frame at the moment, it's a PITA and i wish i'd never started it. Laughing
