Hi guys! Might be getting hold of one of these in a few days

https://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww345/smert/51eac421.jpg

Are they hard to work on? It doesn't seem to pull very well so I plan to sort it out. Sounds fine but you have to keep your hand on the throttle to keep it running pretty much all the time.

Other than that it looks pretty tip top.

Are parts easy to get hold of? Or is it a shit idea?

I'm just looking to find something to do, and if I repair it and made it run I'd be a very happy chap indeed!

Does any one know what they are doing with these little buggers?
Karma given for good advice.

Relentlessly unreliable and a waste of money as you'll never be able to ride it anywhere Laughing

might be fun to take apart and put back together, but your re-sale market is very small. You're probably better off with a clapped out 125

Find out your local mini moto-go kart track so you have a place to use it! Google is your friend!

Also, they are okay, good for a laugh but they are bastards to start. Shocked Looks pretty tidy, but don't pay over £70 odd quid. They are like 100ish new nowadays.

Do your research.

It is a cheap Chinese one?

Some of the cheap Chinese ones can be made reasonably reliable by swapping out a few parts with the Italian models they're copying - though they still won't be up the original Italian ones in reliability and will be a bit heavier too.

Rather spend the money, time and effort on something useable, like a clapped out motorcross bike. Get it rebuilt, and get some laning done on it. Thumbs Up

Except your typical motocross bike won't be road legal - though there are more place you can legally play on one than a minimoto.

I will eat my lid if any minimoto has been ridden legally on any road anywhere in the UK, ever. Laughing

Ok, couldn't find a picture, but a fair bit of reasonable evidence, from 'back in the day' to some degree.

Might be getting it free.

The bodywork on it says HONDA however I don't think Honda made it Laughing

Looks okay, smokes a fair bit though.

I know there's a go kart track near me but I don't know if it does minimotos. Thinking

I guess I'll have to ring up and see.

I know how cheap they are I offered her 40quid sold as seen, but she said when she gets in touch with her dad he'll probably just give it me cause he doesn't need it. He has a 125 monkey bike which is pretty damn cool. Road registered and the lot, it's so small! Surprised Laughing

I don't want a motocross bike I don't have a way to transport it or fund what it might need. Mini motos looks cheap to play with.

Any one else got one? Competitive or just fun?

On the internet, nobody knows that you're a dog riding a road legal minimoto.

Pics or it didn't happen. Razz

If it's a cheap Chinese moto and it's a dog it's worth less than £40.

A tidy chinky will go for £50-80 without needing stuff immediately

If it's a polini or Blata they're worth £100 in a pretty bad state but look around and you can get something in a fair working order for £150 - £250 and parts are easy to get hold of.

I've just got one and even though I'm a fat git it pulls like a (small) train

Have you got the fuel tap facing the right way and the choke in the right position?

it is a mk 2 cag.there not bad.will have either a 47 or 49cc engine in.the carbs are pure shite so dont bother trying to fix it.get urself on ebay and buy a new one.you can get one for £8 including postage and with a new manifold gasket.they are cheap chinese bikes but are a brilliant cheap way of getting into the sport.once you get it going just go steady till you get used to it.and also dont keep it running for ages.have 20 mins of riding then give it 10 to cool down.but ill put all my wages on it that if you buy a new carb it will run sound.i take my down to a local warehouse car park.i spoke to the owner who was fine with it but warned me if i fell off its on me and me alone.which is sound for me.police came down once after seeing me from a passing road, took my details and rang the owner the next day and all was good.iv been doing it for couple of months now..brill fun.also i would pay more then £35 for that.lucky 7 are the best made chinese models and you can pick one of them up for £50

also take the main fairing off and leave it streetfightered.helps keep them cooled as they are only air cooled.all in all they are piss easy to work on.i have a b1 rep water cooled which i have just changed the main bearings on and it took me about 2 hours.the hardest thing to do is change the carb without taking the back wheel off but thats just fiddly.parts are dirt cheap.get a couple of fuel filters and also buy a spare clutch bell housing as other then the carb these are bugers for snapping on the front sprocket.
here's my little whip and the casing in the oven for bearing swap Very Happy

just got back from being out on mine.made a small track on a car park with loads of turns.my cousin has just bought a blata which are supposed to be shit hot and to be fair its fast but my little chinese whip won everytime.i had it going for about 40 mins none stop.so it just shows if you use decent oil,the chinese mini moto's will last just as well as the "well made" mini moto's
