Ive got my heart set on a Suzuki now, but, me being vain on looks I would much prefer a K6 onwards then a K5....
I was going to toy with the B1H again, as I loved that bike, but the prices for that said bike are still on the high... Even C1H.....
Been without a bike for 2 months, and public transport are just drismal and expensive - I dont want a thou, as I just deemed the R1 I sold a lazy bike, I do prefer to work a bike through the gears and thus maybe keep me out of trouble a little bit
K4 V K5 around 1k difference in price as far as I can see...
Just need people opinions of each, if possible - I can go buy a K4 tommorow, but is it worth holding out a bit longer for a K6 ? |

I agree with you that the K6-K8 are by far the best looking GSX-Rs, before and after that they are a bit meh. I *might* have had a K4/K5 but the only reason I'd have got one is if I didn't have the money and I really needed the bike, like, NOW.
If I were you, I'd probably buy a K4 and sell it just before the end of summer so you can get a decent price, then, when the prices of bikes plummet during/after the Christmas period, use the cash to buy a K6. If you did that and didn't put a huge amount of miles on it or damage it in any way, then you really won't lose any money I expect, if you do, it won't be a lot. If that's too much hassle, then I'd probably just wait.

You said you are looking for a bike where you want to work the box more, that'd be a 600 I expect. Why not save the money so when the prices go down you can more easily afford a K6+ if you still want to go that way?
See, I don't mind that model. It's not too bad aesthetically, are you sure you can't find any K6 models in your budget? That is, essentially, the same as a K6 aesthetically I think, maybe minor differences but they are definitely minor. K6 is below.
Both the 600 and 750 are fantastic bikes, I don't feel a difference in them apart from top top end, once you start reaching 100mph+ the difference begins to show slightly and in sixth hammering it the 750 will just pull away, how often do you do that?
Hope you find the perfect bike, the K6-K8 models are epic if you can find one, you will find it much easier during the Christmas period.

Thanks Pauliington - Problem is, Im used to stupid public transport - so I keep saving and saving to get a decent bike that I will love for a while.... Just cant figure out which..... K6's are around the 4k mark at the moment, and I know its the wrong time of year to buy... I may just hold out till winter again to gain what I want |

Easier way to tell is the headlights.
K6:

or
K6 600/750:

K7:

or
GSX-R1000 Only (I believe):

K8:

(Except 1000, 1000 still has the K7 round headlight).
I believe this is the same range wide, there are a few variances such as a K7 1000 has the K6 headlight but it's pretty decent at telling the difference when you don't have a standard exhaust to look at. !
It's confusing. . ____________________ "Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul."

Trying to find the right examples! I believe it's right now, as far as I remember:
K6: 600/750 and 1000 have different (slightly) headlights, but near similar.
K7: As above post, but the 1000 has a round headlight, no spikes.
K8: As above post, and I believe the 1000 has the same round headlight as the K7 model.
It is silly, as said above. ! Exhausts are the easiest way, as you said, but most people have non-standard exhausts. ____________________ "Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul."

anyway, after paulington had finished furiously fumbling around google posting numerous examples of wrong bikes before finally making up his mind, and thous, - which we dont give a fuk about
@louise if we war going on looks alone - i went for the k7 as it was my prefered shape - however to confuse you even more i went for a k7 as it has a different paint scheme to the k6 - I prefered the k7 paint job with the white nose over the k6 with the blue nose. However to confuse you even more im talking about the 750. As the 600 has different paintjobs again. Also until recently the 750 had black forks and the 600 has gold forks. Also wheels have changed colour from revision to revision. from blue to black back to blue again?? You still with me
oh ye - get a k6 over the k5 |

lol. I always wanted the k6/k7 shape but as with everything you tend to start getting bored of how it looks and be drawn towards other stuff.
Personally I think the 6/7 is starting to look a teeny bit dated now compared to the k8 shape and the new l1 shape. (the 600 l1 looks flipping tasty with white wheels, especially in the flesh)
I was about to spend a shit load on springs/setup front and rear for my weight and slap some new tyres on but now im toying with other ideas, like maybe a k9. |

Save up more and get a K6! I absolutely love mine, I got the silver/black paint scheme which I haven't seen too many of around. If you are using public transport at the moment force yourself to do it for a wee while longer and then get the pick of bikes that you really want.
Plus the 600's are pretty light and flickable round through the twisties whilst being fairly forgiving if you make a mistake. Great fun ____________________ Theory test - 19/8/09, CBT - 11/10/09, MOD 1 - 16/8/10, MOD 2 - 27/10/10

In actuality I must admit I've been thinking of selling the thousand and looking at a 600/750 recently, I just find myself going that little bit too quickly too often. ! ____________________ "Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul."
