Just booked an Assessed ride & Track Experience..

Well for the first time on saturday since I past my test 2 months ago im going back under the observation hammer...

Me and a mate have booked a Assessed ride with the local bike safe team and a track taster for the afternoon at Castle Coombe, we really dont know what to expect..

I cant work out if im thrilled or shitting it at the thought of a police officer following me on a bike or not but at £30 total cost it cant be sniffed at surely.. Just wondering what to expect really, anyone else done this that can give me some insight on what to be prepared for and how to approach this as I want to make the most of it Thumbs Up

I had an assessed ride on saturday by a bike Cop.No need to be worried they are sound guys,well mine was.
All he said to me was ride to your abilities,don't rush or deliberately go slow because i'm behind you.I expect you to do the speed limit in 20,30,40 and 50mph limits,at NSL i am not going to be bothered at 70 or 80mph so long as you feel safe doing that and you do it when it's safe to do so.
Relax and enjoy mate.He is going to assess you and advise you.NOT nick you unless you take the piss.

Wicked I'm really looking forward too it actually, do u keep in radio comms with them choosing the route?! How does that side of things work, also did ur bike have many mods??!

I'm wondering if there gonna frown upon a 7x5 plate and an aftermarket can?!

We didn't have radio coms,just incase he was needed to be called to a job.This was an assessment outside bikesafe.He just told me where I should go and stop at to discuss thing.Just something arranged between me and him.If number plate isn't legal size that might be an issue.As regards the can,mine is a Scorpion can without the baffles in,as I don't have the baffles the can is as I got it from the shop when I bought the bike.He didn't mention once the noise from tyhe can,even though a couple of weeks ago MOT gave me an advisory for a loud exhuast.

If he's going to let you speed I can't imagine he's not going to ride out with you because of your can/plate.

I don't know mate.For some reason plate sizes seem to be an issue with Lincs Police.

I did a full IAM course and final exam over six months with a small plate and an aftermarket can (baffles removed) on my GSXR. The only comment I got was from the instructor who said exaust sounds lovely. You'll be fine.

It's just their focus for the month I think. I got pulled by a copper who basically said they're under orders to specifically crack down on plate size on motorbikes. Not sure where it came from or why but that's the directive they're working under atm. Told me there'll be some right nobbers going over it with the tape measure so until they relax on it best to keep a full size plate on around Lincs.

MOT's are now more strict on plate size too. And slightly amusingly, less strict on car brake disc thickness...

I think its a government push to prevent people avoiding ANPR systems.

From what I remember, they were quite picky with other bits.
Not sure they'd like a small plate, but would be ok with a loud exhaust I believe.
