DAS and test fails how did your school deal with?

Hi, if anyone has done a DAS and failed either Mod1 or Mod2 I'd like to know how your school dealt wiith it, did they re-book and pay for the tests within the pre-paid training schedule or did you have to pay for more training plus more tests?

Had to pay for the test, hire of the bike and instructor. No other lessons.

No mod1/mod2 in my day but I just paid for the test and bike-hire on re-test day and got a day of the instructor's time for free.

How much are you looking at for that £100 a test?

Depends on a lot of factors; how much they charge for bike hire, cost of the test, whether they'll chuck in the instructor's time for free (this was part of the DAS deal my school did). £100 is probably the right sort of magnitude. How many times are you planning on failing?

My instructor was great when I failed my Mod 1. He said, I'm surprised you didn't fall off going that slow, why didn't you go faster like I told you too?! Then he took me back to the school with a bit of filtering. He rang the test centre up there and then and got me booked in the for the next week. Had to pay an extra half day bike hire and then the test fee so 70 quid or so.

DAS is the "big bike test" not the actual learning-to-ride-one course.

So it'll be different between schools and instructors.

Some offer a single-price course, of those, some might include guaranteed pass (i.e. they will cover additional fees and lessons). Others offer a price per hour/price per day and will get you to pay the test fees etc.

I had to pay for my MOD 2 rebook and training - no discount which i thought was a joke but as I learn while on training pupils are simply money making machines and if you fail then more money for them!

I've booked with school that in event I would not pass, I pay small petrol money (£10 per day) and tests fees.

I failed my Mod 1 on the fourth day of my course. That meant I'd pissed away the Mod 2 fee I'd paid for later that afternoon with the course cost. I had to do two more 'sessions' - not really a days training as it was literally just a ride up to the test centre to re-take and pass Mod 1, then a second session a week later to get to the Mod 2 and pass it. Cost an extra £125 which I thought was pretty reasonable seeing as the test fees were £90 for the two. Cocking up the Mod 1 is the only downside to an intensive course as you have lost the Mod 2 fee.
Besides, you're not going to fail anything, so it won't be an issue!

Passed my Mod 1 / Mod 2 Oct last year.

Nerves got the better of me on the first Mod 1 and I missed out on my Mod 2 fee on the same afternoon. Failed the Mod 1 again on nerves at the second attempt.

So in order to motivate me my instructor said my third Mod 1 attempt was free.................... I passed !!!

Mod 2 was flawless and passed without a single minor

In hindsight I wouldn't have booked my Mod 1 and Mod 2 on the same day the first time around.

I failed mod 1 on the morning of the 3rd day of my DAS course.Fortunately I lost no money or training,the course stopped there and then.To be continued when I had the mod1 under my belt.
To re-take all I had to pay for was the test fee.bike,fuel and instructor cost me nothing extra.When I passed mod1 we picked up where we had left off,failed mod2 1st time.Then he got me re-booked in,asked my if I felt like I needed any more training,I said maybe a couple of hrs just to refresh things.All I had to pay for for the re-take was the test fee.No charge for bike or the two hrs instruction.

ive had to pay for rebooking my test and bike hire but my instructor has hired the mod 1 test centre and letting me practice for free cant complain at all

my instructor saids it would of cost £240 to redo the mod 2 and borrow the bike/instructor etc... Sounds a bit iffy compared to some other posts... Glad i passed it 1st time or i woulda been fucked.
