We saw some superb racing on the island yesterday (wed). The race schedule was changed a little due to the weather but all three races were completed, and then the rain came........

It's been raining heavily on the island since last night and right through today, the rain is forecast to remain heavy overnight and tomorrow morning with gales forecast tomorrow night. There is a slim chance of a weather window tomorrow evening but more rain is forecast overnight on friday and on saturday. There are two races in friday's schedule left to run, the Lightweight TT and the Senior TT. Unless there is a drastic change in the forecast I can't see these races going this year.

There are still thousands of visitors camping around the island and conditions on the campsites are pretty grim. We have four lads in our spare room and another two in the living room, it's a little cramped but they're just glad of a hot shower and some dry clothes. They were camping in a field near us and woke up during the night with a river running through their tents! I can't remember when it rained for so long in TT week since the '90's.

Let's hope for better weather for TT2013.

Great shame that a great week burns out like a damp squib, is there provision for road closure on Saturday to run the Senior?
Good on you for putting the lads up Karma

There is a provision for a road closure for racing on Saturday and it has been used in the past, there could be an issue over the number of Marshalls left on the island as many will have ferries booked for friday night and saturday but that problem can be overcome by recruiting extras locally and from the race teams as well. The main problem is going to be the weather, I've just seen the forecast on ITV and saturday looks to be a washout. Another news channel is forecasting 4" of rain in the next 24hrs.
There are now local people posting on the TT forum offering shelter to campers and i believe there is also a facebook appeal for people who have any space available to take people in. My neighbour has three staying with him and my sister has just taken in a couple. Forecast looks reasonable for Sunday...........

Lets see.... An extended Bank Holiday, a horrifically expensive 'celebration' of some queen or other AND the TT all in the same week.... What did you expect?

Just got back in from Liverpool, couple of lads on rats came past us on the M6 soaking wet and loaded with camping gear one of the bikes stunk of fuel.
we passed them on the outside lane, they were stationary on the hard shoulder so we could not stop. Guess a float had stuck open, I have a gallon in the back of the wagon they could have had. Poor buggers were not having a good day.
