PostPosted: 22:16 - 07 Jun 2012    Post subject: The lead singer of AC-DC? Reply with quote

Hello to all, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

I don't have a road bike, but I do have an old Ossa I use on the farm (a left over from my father). I have been thinking about getting a bike. I like the idea of a Triumph Tiger Explorer but I have very little knowledge of bikes (and no license as yet).

Anyway, I have spent years in IT in the entertainment/events industry. And this brings the subject of this post to light. Today, whilst working I was earwigging on the business of the company and I overheard they was having the lead singer of AC-DC as a surprise mystery guest at their bike show. Do bikers even listen to old rock?

Now I am only approaching my mid 30's and I don't really remember the band, but I thought the lead singer died. Bon somebody. But they seemed to be wanting to keep it secret. And obviously I don't. So if anyone else is as curious as me, how they are going to do this give me a wave at the show.

I'll be there trying to grab a look at the triumph. And I am a bike show virgin, so will probably spend way to long looking at all the wrong things.

(if I have posted this in the wrong place, I apologise)

It wont be Bon Scott - he died in 1980. Brian Johnson is the bloke now.

Was my bread and butter music growing up, along with 'Maiden and a bit of the sabbath.

Welcome BTW

Don't remember the band?
They're still doing stuff!! ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zYGxb5kFjI )
Bon Scott died in 1980 but was succeeded by Brian Johnson (who was on Top Gear a while ago)

Welcome along, get your license etc Wink

Thanks guys,

I don't think I'll have my license by the show, but certainly before the end of the year. As for the singer, I was bought up on hippie music (dear old mum), but the staff called this guy the original singer. That's why I am confused. Should learn to keep my ears closed I guess.

Try not to stereotype people. I have ridden bikes all my life and have the scars and tattoos to prove it, however my musical tastes are Classical, R&B and modern jazz. I look like I bite the heads of chickens but I do not eat meat.

I'm 18 and I enjoy a bit of AC/DC. In fact, that's the exact style of the band I was in 3 years ago. So you can't say 30 is too young to remember it!

Bon Scott was the lead singer in ACDC and Brian has done the band justice. But then even before his death Bon had seen Brian perform and it was because of what he said to Angus that Angus went to seek Brian out and offer him a job as lead singer.

As for never hearing them I cannot believe that. Back in Black is one of the most famous guitar rifts of all time.

Anyways. Welcome to the forum. Good luck with your firm getting the original singer from DC. He can be found in Australia 6 foot beneath this headstone:

Best to keep this little gem to yourself Wink as most virgins get done over...I'm sure a google image search will flag up pics relevant!!!

I guess you're talking about Bulldog bash or Rock n Blues show. They usually cater for old rockers right through to modern day club type music at their gigs.

And there is no right or wrong thing to view at such events...if its there...look at it...if you like it, that's your business!!! Just go and enjoy yourself. Thumbs Up

I've not ridden all my life and have the tattoos anyway, though I will be getting a couple of bike related scars next month when they open me up to pin my collar bone. I also like rock music.

Is the bike show at the Billing Aquadrome? I meant to go last year when I lived over Northampton, but never had the time iirc.

Dave Evans was the original singer with AC/DC and he's in the UK towards the end of June on tour.

Anyone who says Bon Scott was the original singer loses many man points.

Anyway, my money is on Dave Evans being at the bike show. AFAIK, Brian Johnson is living in the States at the moment.
