No problems out of memory. Use the same motor as in 99% of mopeds which tends to run quite well when taken care of. Lots of tuning possibilities.

On the down side, they're cheaply produced, (Like Motor Hispania) build quality can be quite poor and they're over priced.

Better off getting a 2nd hand 50 which wont lose too much resale value. Thumbs Up

Meh: If everyone bought second hand, the buyer's market would flood with unwanted bikes, and you'd have nothing left to buy except new.
Funny that if everyone bought second hand, you'd be demanding that someone buys new Laughing .

Just out of interest.. why are you going from an AR50 to a reiju 50 ?

I don't see the point other than a big waste of money, the AR is more than likely faster too Confused

AR50 also has more character in my opinion. You see loads of the 50/125 race replicas about, mostly with the same boring paint jobs.

Out of interest how long until you are 17, and what made you want to buy new rather than second hand and aren't you slightly bothtered about the huge loss you'll have when selling the RS2 soon to get a 125?

RS2 are one of the fastest 50cc's sports bikes (contradiction in terms there), and do look the nuts, electrics can be dodgy on them though, so watch out!

Just remember it is a bike and not a moped and treat it as such, and always user fully synthetic oil!!

I've got a RS1 Rieju, with the Yasuni pipe fitted when I bought it, it did 68mph at 12000rpm. Since then I've fitted a 77cc kit, which I polished internally, a 21mm carb, removed the inlet restrictor, bent the reed petals back, chucked the airfilter, 15t front sprocket, retarded the timing and fitted 2x stronger clutch springs. It DID 85mph, it now does 75mph due probably to the ring being worn out.
I paid £200 for it in a fairly rough state so I have a good idea what goes wrong on these bikes.
I've replaced the front fork bearings, front pads, chain and sprockets, rear bulb, headlight bulb (6x), sealed the petrol cap, fibre-glassed and painted the fairing. The crank, clutch and gearbox are quite weak in comparison with other (not Minarelli AM6 engined) 50cc bikes. That said I've not had to replace anything engine-wise except the front sprocket oil seal and small end. As with any buzzy little bike you need to run a spanner over it weekly to check for things vibrating loose.
I read somewhere (I think an old MCN) that Rieju's are the fastest of the moped sport bikes, probably because they are a bit smaller than average.
I'm selling it once I've done my bike test, I only bought it to dodge the summer traffic, plus because I've passed my car test (years ago ) I don't need CBT or L's on a moped.
Oh if only I'd kept my DT125R....

How did you know how fast it was going if it didn't have a working speedo? Confused

GPS isn't *that* accurate, it can be a fair bit out, someone had one on their bike at a trackday and it at one point gave a reading of 407mph so I wouldn't count on them. Laughing

GPS speed readings can be inaccurate, but only if you haven't got enough satellites in reception, or if the "Geometric Quality" is low. This occurs when you have the minimum of satellites received, but they're not widely spaced around the sky. This happens more often in cars or built up areas as the signal is easily blocked. On a bike's dashboard, on an open road the quality of GPS speeds must be near perfect.
As an example of how sensitive they are, I stood in my back garden and walked two paces north and two back. The GPS reading moved slightly and the heading shown went from 002 degrees to 175 degrees, I was amazed that it could sense a difference of say six feet from satellites hundreds of miles up in the sky.
And rather useful when I'm in the middle of the North Yorks Moors, ploughed fields, disused green lanes, etc wondering where the hell I am in my SJ413.

hmm.....why do most of the people in here have the attitude of, wait till ya 17, a 50 is stupid?....and why do you think there is a huge loss of buying a 50 new?? i had a ts50, and its been a really shite bike, so i went out and bought a mx50 brand new. i paid £2200 for it, got dheaper insurance (450tpft) and i have seen year old ones selling for £1700 so thats a loss of £500....woop-dee-fucking-do...

u get a brand new bike, which no other stupid person has had its hands on, 2 yrs warantee and 0 milage....

and, the ar's/ts's/rd's/fs1-e's etc. are waaay slower than the new crop of 50's, aswell as breaking down every five minetes....[/i]

Yeah, I had an AR50/93 about twe(cough)lve yrs ago. It was a good little moped, ridiculously loud (Micron Race), did 80mph and only blew up once. The poor thing ran better on paraffin, although not (at all) below 5 grand. A piston skirt snapped off once but that was to do with it running on Model glow Fuel, which was bad, apparently.
And it used £6 worth of petrol to do 40 miles, which back then was twice as bad as it would be now.
Now that was a moped that would "power" wheelie forever, only with someone on the back. It used to wheelie with the front about six inches off the ground for ages, not very good when you want to steer!

my ar50 wheelies from 1st to 5th Smile so thats probably not far off quater of a mile of wheelie... of course i cant do them Sad my wheelies end up being like 2 meteres long, but my legs flail about everywhere

it can also wheelie by revving it nuts of then throwing in the clutch in 2nd gear.

it does 60mph on the road, and about 40-45 ofroad cos it bounces to hell
