Just checking over my bike today, all ready to go for a nice cruise out to Chatsworth and round that way. Coolant, check. Oil, check. 2 stroke oil, check. Four inch galvanised nail in rear tyre, check...Thumbs Down

https://www.thebdaman.f2s.com/Bike%20Stuff/Nailforweb.gif

Took ten minutes just to pull the bloody thing out Shocked Tyre stayed up, and then did the 36 mile round trip I planned so it appears OK. Bloody worrying though, especially seeing as that damn tyre is only three weeks old Rolling Eyes

Edit; Can't seem to get the [img] tags to work, so it's down there Confused Cheers Stew and damn my blindness Wink Very Happy

Hi i havent long joined this forum but i have been riding bikes all my life and i can honestly tell you to please throw that tyre away before you really regret it as the damage is in the sidewall it cannot be repaired .

I know a new tyre is a lot of money but i suppose it depends on how much you value your life, that tyre is just biding its time before it bites you on the arse.

Thats so unlucky mate, but like the other post says its time to lay that one to rest. When your out on the road theres only two things you have in contact with the road and you need them to be at their best. Sidewall damage is not good news. I got a nail in mine last month, was the last thing I needed. Ended up getting two bridge stone battle-ax BT014's, and theyre the best two hundred quid I ever spent!

Ouch. That looks like an odd puncture to get though. Sidewall damage is usually the death of a tyre; is it a tubetype? Surely it'd have deflated otherwise? In regards to inserting images, as far as I know, they need to be jpegs.

As the others said, get a new one sharpish.
I'm all for running bikes on a shoestring but some corners just cant be safely cut. That tyre is likely to loose it's shape as the damage to the sidewall gets worse every time you ride it and eventually it will have you off, possibly in front of a classy bird you are trying to impress.
Think about it this way, when it has you off how much will all the fairing pannels cost to get replaced?

Tubeless, and yes I'd have thought it would have deflated too Confused Jpegs. I see Thumbs Up

Well, generally, as I said before - BUGGER. Could do without that really Rolling Eyes Thanks to all for the replies, and it seems the consensus is to ditch it and do it swift. I have to admit, I was afraid of that. Fair D, and cheers all Thumbs Up

So... How much will that be then?

Probably about £60 for a new rear tyre!

As the rest say better to junk it now, than it having a blow out and injuring you and damaging your bike!

Yep I gotta agree with the rest BUT take the tyre to you're nearest bike tyre specialist and you MAY be able to get it major repaired,I don't know a lot about bike tyres but I spent a good few years working in a tyre centre and damage to the sidewalls can be repaired by specialist tyre repairers, they usually pick the tyre up say on a monday and return it the following monday,we used a company called Meridian Tyre Repair from Bristol and they were excellent and i'm sure theres many more repairers around the country and they are repaired to BSAU standards so its not just a bodgit and scarper job!

Like I say I'm not too good with bike tyres but as long as you havent damaged the cords in the sidewall then it should be repairable, you'll still have to get another tyre of course whilst your's is away for repairs but at least you'll have that one back to use another day Thumbs Up

No, it was point first, but I've no idea where from or how it got in so bloody neatly Crying or Very sad The less charitable part of my mind suspects foul play, but I'm pretty sure that's just because I'm a little annoyed and drunk tonight Very Happy
