Right,

The bike is registered as a 50cc.

It has a 140cc engine.

MOT guy has asked me to bring the log book when it gets MOT'd...I'm assuming this is to prevent people just adding a random bikes V5 to a normal pit bike.

I have the V5, frame number matches and has the manufacturer plate on there.

Engine is different though, likely to kick up a fuss?!

Depends. Have you asked him if he's competent and honest? If so, you may want to go elsewhere. Thinking Wink

You assume wrong. Smile

In my experience, it's so that they can easily get the VIN (which they need) without having to cock about reading it off the frame.

When I forgot my log book once, the MOT guy huffed about a bit and said "I'll have to read the VIN off the frame then".

It'll be fine.

This. All the mot man should be concerned about is if it will pass or fail the test.
Whatever engine you have fitted should be none of his concern.
Thumbs Up

Mot's only there to say the bike is road legal. They won't give a damn if it's got the right engine or not.

Precisely..... The engine number could be different for a number of reasons. You could have blown one up and replaced it. It's not really any of his business is it - all he should worry about is that the bike is road worthy and legal.

I personally would be more worried about making sure you have the stupid little red reflector that you need on the back, rather than worry the about engine number!

Very Happy

Hi mate done this before. Grind 140cc off the head, or liquid metal over it and paint with a brush. Laughing

The guy wont care, it doesnt make a difference to them aslong as its roadworthy. Cheers.

Is it not a new thing for the new MOT certificates??

Had MOT 2 days ago and they wanted V5 or previous MOT certificate.

When I went in, he took the V5 and disappeared for a good 10 mins.

Same happened to me back in March. I assumed he'd gone for a dump or a cuppa.

He may re-register it as the new engine size - that's what happened with my friend who had a 125 registered as a 50.

"My friend" claims are what Warped makes. If that actually happened, I think we'll need some more details.
