Wet weather gear

Can anybody recommend any decent wet weather clothing that actually keeps you dry?

I was out riding today for about an hour and a half - wearing Alpinestars boots, a Spie jacket, Richa trousers and Bikers gloves... all allegedly waterproof versions but everything was wet through within 15 minutes. The jacket faired best, but even that had given up completely by the time I got home. The boots in particular were terrible, I took the left one off and tipped it up and water poured out!

I know it's wet today but I've ridden in much worse and come out reasonably dry in the past.

So, does anybody know of any decent waterproof stuff?

The heavy driving rain I rode in today didn't get through my £9 rainsuit. The considerably more expensive boots from TCX were also excellent.
Gloves....I wore some RST summer cheapos inside some neoprene bar muffs.

Dry from the crack to the sack.

Ok - here's a little pointer - you're going to keep getting "spam" post ratings until you at least remove the advert hyperlink from your sig, no matter how well-meaning it is.

As for wet weather gear - I found a reasonable HG jacket and draggin jeans with some waterproof trousers over, and then a Spada 1-piece rainsuit over the whole lot worked for me. Never found gloves that didn't leak and the same goes for boots on the whole - it's just a question of how long until water trickles in.

Gore-tex.



Goretex jacket and trousers: Bering (jacket is bonded goretex rather than a lining layer under the textile - much thinner, nicer and no water soaking into the cloth at all... but more expensive!)
Goretex boots and gloves: Alpinestars

Add a neck tube to stop the odd drip down the collar and 100% dry, all day, in the rain, in "sunny" Wales

if your gear is getting a bit weathered, try re-waterproofing spray or wash (e.g. Nitwax) before you go splurging on expensive, and perhaps not better, gear.

Any bike gear with a Gore-Tex tag will offer a certain level of quality.

However when Gore-Tex textiles get wet on the outside they can get a bit chilly as the water evaporates off, even if you stay dry on the inside. To overcome that you can’t beat cheap, unlined waterproofs over the top.

I’m a Flexothane fan for cheap tough waterproofs.

I've got a cheap (£120, caught them on offer though) Frank Thomas textiles set that kept me warm and dry through the last winter (the one that hasn't ended yet :p). Also survived a low speed off very well indeed. They're aqua storm or something.
Think they're coming back out tomorrow as my Wolf leathers really aren't waterproof

Cheapo builders waterproof jacket & overtrouses, about twenty quid the set, totally waterproof and available in all sizes up to "fifteen Guinnesses & three fry-ups a day" man size.

Currently I am using Alpinestars Excursion Gore-Tex suit and have been suitably impressed, along with TCX S-Race GTX boots I have yet to get wet. Held do a mint gore-tex suit too, infact most of Held's waterproof kit will actually keep you dry Gore-Tex or not!

I just went to my local factory outlet, spent pittance on the sort of waterproof stuff ramblers use and chuck it over what I usually put on. Sorted.

I gurss I'll be avoid Weisse and looking for Gortex gear from now on... I did think the boots were quite good, but I stupidly put my foot under a lorry's rear wheel while filtering and I think it's damaged something as the boot that went under felt like I was wearing a swimming pool.

Dianese TRQ-TOUR GORE-TEX boot's, builders overtrousers, ex-mod-plod biker overjacket, Spada enforcer gloves, two bar towel's V stitched together round the neck. 15 miles of slow filtering in the pouring rain this morning, dry on the inside no problem on a naked F/GS.

Army surplus goretex trousers (dutch army ones are very good), hi vis workmans jacket, German special forces boots.

Stayed completely bone dry in that, riding for hours in torrential rain (and it all cost me less than £80)

I rate Triumph Branded kit really highly.

What A* boots did you have my SMX4wp where brilliant still 100% proof when the soles and the zips wore out. It could have been the case that your trousers where so shit the water was running down into your boots.

I rode for about 90 miles in the rain yesterday.

Weise jacket keeps me dry as well. Not the best gear in the world but it was a bargain for the price.

I wear a £80 sparda textile jacket, buffalo trousers and sparda boots and sparda gloves and am bone dry

THIS IS SPARDA!

I only got the boots yesterday but am much drier at the bottom of my trousers and my feet compared to trousers

I don't know what you've got but dont see why youre having a problem if they're water proof

rode 150 mile on a 125 on sunday in the rain and only got a bit wet, not soaked through at all so I'd say that was fairly decent for nearly 4 hours in the rain.

I've got a cheap textile jacket (about £45) and some cheap armoured overpants i wear over my jeans which are waterproof and some cheap £30 touring boots which keep the water out well.
