I've booked myself in for my tests in a weird way:

1. Bought big bike.
2. Booked Theory.
3. Big bike delivered.
4. Booked practicals.
5. Passed Theory.
6. Waiting to do practicals.

I've opted for this new 'accelerated learning' thing where you have a few more hours training, but take tests back-to back. It means I'll have two and a bit days training, down to the test centre, then mod 1, and if passed, mod 2 an hour or so later.

Anybody else done this? Apparently from what the bloke said on the phone it was being trialled in various test centres...

I'm reasonably confident on the bike, got three years of CBT under my belt, and now I've opted for this test method. Just wondering if anyone else has heard of/done it...

Sounds like it's Direct Access which means you do some training with a school, usually in bulk, and then go on to do your tests on a big bike, so when you pass, you get a full bike license instead of a restricted one.

It's quite common. Don't fail.

Cool. Guy sounded like it was unique, like it was different from the usual DAS - two weekends or something similar...

And no, it's not my intention to fail. Laughing

Some test centers are trialling back to back tests, effectively turning into 1 test.

What you have described however sounds like a pretty normal DAS course.

Good Luck

I did it back to back. No complaints from me but just be aware if you fail mod1 you cannot take mod2, and you lose the test fee...

AFAIK there was never actually any need to pass Mod 1 before booking Mod 2, and no mandatory gap between sitting them. I'm not sure what's changed, except perhaps the way training schools are being encouraged / allowed to book blocks of blocks.

Remember, Mod 1 test rates are close to 70% (for chaps, lady-chaps seem to have a bit more trouble). If you're renting a bike and accompanying instructor, it's a rational gamble to do them back to back.
