They did their level best to wreck our carefully laid holiday plans.
They cancelled our outbound train to Verona leaving us with a much longer ride to get to Naples from Innsbruck.
Then one day before our return trip they cancelled the train again, and again we had to drive a huge distance to get to Innsbruck.
Basically they couldn't give a toss about their customers and cancel trains to suit themselves.
Beware of Autozug if you don't want stress before or during your holidays
Anyway the BMW R1200R did a great job in getting us to Sicily and back (over 3000kms ridden) and the only rain we had was the last hour getting home to our house in Holland

To be fair, in the last 3 times i've used the UK rail service i've had to suffer 2 cancellations, once I was on the train and it was moving when it was cancelled and booted us all off at Birmingham.

Parts for German trains often come from Edinburgh, Nottingham or Calais and can take some time to get there. I know this as I've quite often been delivering them.

Germans are usually very on the ball as far as these things go and I think you were just very unlucky.
