Pillion boredom

Hi people, has anyone here had a pillion ( my wife ) say to you " next long ride I might take my Kindle to read ", my reply was" to bloody dangerous, plus you'll never be able to read it anyway with the vibration " I ride a Honda deauville, and quite briskly at times, anyway just curious if anyone else's pillions have had similar ideas Thumbs Up

I found being pillion rather boring the one time I was.

A friend took me out on his Daytona 675.
It was reasonably good fun pulling away, but you don't feel as connected to the bike.

On motorways it was the most boring experience imaginable, mostly because you can't bloody see past the back of the other person's helmet.

The view is a problem for pillions. Maybe one of those king/queen seats to improve the view ahead. Intercom can help. A bit of banter passes the time (intercom on light circuit so can always switch it off). Giving a heads-up on what's coming up to look out for. Useful for when approaching sleeping policemen too. Intercom with music is also good but from my point of view hearing my daughter singing along isn't always the best.

I had an ex that would fall asleep on the back of the bike on motorways all the time, it was obvious when she had as I suddenly had extra weight pushing on my back!

I think motorways are just boring in general. Not much you can do about it other than some of the pillion to rider coms things suggested above.

I don't see why trying to read your Kindle is dangerous. Impractical, maybe, but not dangerous.

I have had a few ladies fall asleep on the back of the bike. One lady decided to read the instructions on a condom box and then put it infront of me to read while I was riding down the motorway. well she thought it was funny.
I have found that an intercom helps pillions as you can chat away or listen to music.

A friend had a vfr750 with a top box and armrest bits for the pillion. I fell asleep after 10 miles and woke up at the petrol station 160 miles down the road.

Don't see why you couldn't use a kindle, except for the gloves touch screen problem.

You could always try the text to speech, or stick an audio book on there (headphones required obviously).
I wouldn't be able to read a Kindle due to the vibration though, maybe humungous text would help?.

I can't read in a vehicle when it's going as it makes me feel ill!!

My Uncles girlfriend takes a cheap digital camera and gets some really good photos as pillion when touring around.

She takes a cheap one because if she drops it off the bike then its no great loss

Motorways are fine. Just give them a nudge every now and then to get them back central.
