Hi i bought a dt 125 1996 for £1100 two days ago and i just started it up for the second time and it took ages kicking it over to get it started, once it started it cut out and all the dash board lights went off :s now when i try to kick start it, the kick start is reall hard to push down and the lights wont come on so i presume the battery is dead, could a flat battery do this to the kick start?

Dead battery wouldn't make the kickstarter hard to turn over. Does it turn over at all? Confused

I can push the kick start down but its has more resistance then usual, think i've flooded it? Just seems weird that it happend as soon as the battery died

"Hi i bought a dt 125 1996 for £1100"

You're MAD! £1100 for a 1996 model?!

And if the kickstart has pressure, the shaft is probably on its way out.
And if the bike has trouble turning over on a WARM engine, then the bottom end is gone.

Quite risky buying a used 125CC as most are neglected, especially the 2-stroke ones, as most people don't mix the oil properly. And some run them dry.

The limit of a used bike for me is up to three years old only, any older I tend to avoid them.

I think the oil mix's itself mate i don't think it's done manually and how much would of you paid? The bikes sorted now, was just a dodgy spark plug Thumbs Up

Bike start's first kick now with choke off on a cold engine.
