You may remember a while ago I acquired a model kit of my bike, which I wanted to build to go on top of my wedding cake last year.

After taking advice, especially from some of you here, I decided it was way beyond my capabilities to build and luckily a friend of ours offered to do it as our wedding present.

I thought you might like to see the finished result, cos I think he did an awesome job. Very Happy

Here it is on the cake on the day:

and here are some close-up shots showing the fabulous attention to detail:

Finally, for scale and so you can see how much detail he put in, here it is on my actual bike

Most excellent work! I do however see a slight discrepancy on the tank lettering.

Hmm... That would make me want to go out and clean my bike. There is even mould on the dual seat!

If he were a painter in the Elizabethan times, he'd have had his head chopped off for showing the Queen's warts, her hair lip and her squint in a painting.

Still, you can't argue with accuracy. The dude has talent!

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Well spotted, the kit came from Japan and is actually for a 400 Zephyr. The two bikes are almost identical (I've owned both, had them at the same time for a while), the main visual difference being that the 400 says "zephyr" on the tank and the 550 says "kawasaki". Smile

Marjay the white on the seat is where I had some polish overspill Embarassed rather than mould, and remember the pics he took to work from were in January - as this is my winter bike it generally gets coated in ACF50/WD40 in autumn and then not washed again til spring..... but yep, it was cleaned (a bit) as soon as we got back from our honeymoon!

The kit came off ebay, it was a fairly well-known (amongst modellers anyway) brand iirc but I'm blowed if I can remember which one.

Bear in mind that it came plain though. Apart from the decals, my mate did all the paintwork himself using pics of my bike. He also made the screen, crashbars, rear rack and numberplate. And the taxdisc holder that I have on my bars (long story, involves the Bulldog Bash) Shocked

He is either a genius or an OCD nutter lol.

As an ex-modeller I can say that's amazing.

I'd have left the ugly screen off though. Wink

When I noticed the mud and rust on it, I was checking the pictures to see how you'd photoshopped the real bike in. Truly impressive work, you have a very kind and talented friend there Mr. Green

Was that Harold wot did that? I remember he was pretty geeky about miniature modelly type things when we went to the Steampunk exhibition in Oxford.

Even if it wasn't, that's pretty awesome detailing, I really thought I was looking at your actual bike sitting on a huge cardboard box and I was about to ask where you were sending it to Laughing

... but then, it is late, and I have been laying it on a bit thick with the vision-affecting codydramol again tonight Doh!
