Make sure you have all your documents in your jacket the night before.

Get to the centre half an hour early.

Take a good long look at how far apart the cones are and how much space you have to play with.

Deep breath before each exercise, blot out everything else. Afterwards forget it ever happened. Repeat until done.

Then go book Mod2.

Keep looking around, all the time. Don't fag out on the speed tests, crack on in 2nd gear round the bend, wide open throttle right to the speed gates, don't look at your speedo. Job done.

Apparently at Enfield yesterday ALL the candidates failed on inadequate speed! Bit of rain and they all bottled it.

Remember a Mod1 course has the finest tarmac you will ever ride on sticky as ShellGrip, and lovingly machined flat by the finest navvies ever to vacate the shores of auld Ireland Wink

You'd have to ride like a complete and utter lunatic to 'lose it' on that stuff.

Good luck buddy
Just passed mine on Thursday, my advice would be to take each part as they come. Don't worry about the other sections, its just a series of small tests.

Have fun!

As people have already said - deep breath before each manoevre, and relax your arms and shoulders as you breathe out. The slow speed stuff on the slalom and figure 8 are easier with a little bit of pace and not going very wide at all around the cones. Think of a slalom skiier going around poles with that lovely swoop swoop action. Second gear around the bend and gun it as soon as you're lined up for the speed trap, then throttle off, two quick counter steers and get back in line for stopping between the blue cones.
Try and relax is the overall advice. As you tick off each manoevre your confidence will grow . On the U-turn, ob before moving off and ob again before you start the turn. On this second ob, keep your head pointed to where you want the bike to finish and just turn your head back left as the bike comes around. Check out CaptainCrashIdaho on Youtube for a brilliant example of the u-turn.
Don't forget that the test starts when you get on the bike so make sure you backed in into the parking space when you first arrive at the test centre. It lasts until you get off the bike to receive your pass certificate, so do your obs before moving back through the gate to park up.
Good Luck!!
