Right so i passed my car test a week ago and when i pulled into the test centre the examiner took my provisional card and paper off me.
Now it has come to my attention with my MOD2 on Friday i cannot take it because they do not accept Pass certificates! so i have had to cancel my test, wait until i receive my new documents then book MOD2 again slightly annoyed, has anyone experienced anything like this before?

Pass certificate for what?

Surely all you need is:

Licence
CBT
Mod 1 pass certificate

Insurance if own bike.

Pass certificate for a car license.
Apparently you need your license card and counterpart?

+ Plus both parts of your licence, which is what the OP doesn't have as they have been sent off to the DVLA.

It's bad luck but you should have explained that you had another test coming up and you needed to hang on to your licence.

quite clearly they have passed their car test and sent their license away
to be updated..

ergo no licence to present at the MOD 2..

I think that the reason they want your ACTUAL driving-Licence, is not so much that they need to check your Identity & Entitlement, though they do....
BUT they also have to send it back to DVLA to be updated with their internal forms.....
DVLA dont exactly have a wonderful reputation for being paragons of clerical efficiency; imagine the 'cock-up' they would cause if the Bike Testing examiner sent his 'pass' forms to them without the driving licence & a note saying, "You already have his licence, just add the extra catagory while you are about it"
Clerk wouldn't know what to do, and by the time he'd found some-one to tell him, your car driving licence would probably have been posted back to you.
So some-one would then post you a full licence with only bike entitlement, and then a third clerk would send you a letter telling you your licence had been 'suspended' pending investigation!!!!!
In WELSH!

Look, they are clerks. They do NOT have any imagination, any discretion, or common sense, they are pen-pushers and they are CERTAINLY not paid to 'Think'! Heaven forbid!

RULES are thier world.

If it says you have to have both parts of your licence, YOU NEED BOTH PARTS OF YOUR LICENCE! end of, THAT is 'The Rule'.

And without it, their world would fall apart; rivers would start flowing backwards, rain would rise from the floor, English-men would start putting coal back in the holes in their hills, and people would start agreeing that actually all-male voice quire's ARE quite good, and shouldn't be banned under the Geneva convention!

Questioning 'the Rule'!

Heracy!

You might as well try arguing that Swansea ISN'T the centre of the known Universe!

Be lucky not to be stripped naked, stapled with missletoe, have a sharpened stake shoved up your recotum and paraded through the streets of Cardiff at the next equinox.... though if the Welsh Rugby team win something before hand, I understand that they do offer 'reprieves' to the condemned, under bardic precedent!

The fiend! After asking you if you elected to have the DSA shred your license and tell the DVLA that they could issue a new one ASAP, you agreed to that, and he did it? Monster!

You do indeed.
At the time of passing you're car test.you had the choice of letting them send your licence off,or giving you a certificate to send off later with your licence. You obviously knew you had a bike test coming up,so why the hell did you let them send your licence off?

I don't trust them with sending off my paperwork, I ALWAYS send my own paperwork off, logbooks, licence or anything else like that I send off, because of fraud / identity theft etc.

Always important to send of your own documents, with first class and some type of "protection" they give you in the post office, forget what they call it, but either way it costs £6.

Heh, it's not a time for thinking clearly, and they do rather assume that you'll want to surrender it. I asked what exactly happens and was told that they (the DSA) just destroy the license and inform the DVLA that it's OK to issue a new one immediately with the new category. I had a bit of a think and surrendered mine (I usually just tick the "lost" box) because the pass certificate should be sufficient to sort out any issues - never, ever lose it!

Except, as you noted, with the effing DSA themselves. Doh!
