It's probably possible but you may have trouble finding a standard kit as the 33bhp law is a UK-only thing* and CB400s were Japan only (and Oz too I think). I did my DAS on one but that will have been the full 52bhp.

Any reason in particular you're looking for an obscure(ish) grey-import rather than something simple and common like a Bandit?

(* It is just a UK thing, right? I'm sure it is but 25kw seems oddly European a figure)

well the main reason is ive found a few cheaper than the cbf600n which woul dbe my other choice, cheaper on insurance too along with the fact that im not a big lad and a smaller bike woulf be nicer, i like the inline 4 which sounds beautiful, just a dam sexy looking lil bike and think there should be more in the UK!! haha thanks though mate!

With grey imports and suchlike (that were never officially sold in the UK), I'd recommend doing some research about how readily available model-specific consumables and parts are before you mentally-commit yourself to a machine. You might find there aren't any problems or you might find you're always bodging things to fit off other models.

CBR400 NC29 kit will work.

The CB400 engine is based off the early CBR engine and they both are 36mm inlet.

You can buy the kit from ebay, Or.. You could make your own, To these dimensions.

Thumbs Up

Hornet 250s are nice too and worth a look if you can find one. You'll be happy with both though, I've got a CBR400 with the same engine and its great fun Cool

I had a CB1 as my first 'proper' bike. It was awesome, sounded like an F1 car with its gear driven cams.

Parts for that bike were easy to get hold of, Wemoto kept a lot in stock.
Overall they are very well built reliable bikes. Apart from the rg/recs going all spastic.
Well, they are Honda's...

Yep, it's exactly what it looks like. Personally I'd probably just lie and say "but officer, the seller told me it is definitely restricted!" I doubt they'd really care with a small bike like that, it's not an R1.

CB400 rides itself in town. Although I've not ridden one restricted, it's fast enough for a starter IMO, and the sound above 10,000 revs is mint Very Happy

Also a good idea. I used to own a Superfour, I chose it over the CB-1 because it was more comfortable and modern but the CB-1 is cheaper, parts are plentiful and it's sportier as a street bike.

Check eBay, There is a couple on now.

I bought mine from ebay a couple of days ago..

Im happy with it, Although it has been dropped a couple of times and needs work which the seller didn't mention, But then again.. I would have still bought it.

Picture is from the eBay listing.

Hmm, if I didn't know any better, I could swear I've seen these bikes before! Laughing

Got to agree, it sounds damn good, looks like it has plenty of kick for a 33bhp bike too.
