well not kids any more
he's over 21 but I get to have time with my kids a lot more these days I'm not on the road so much
last night I sat with my son having a beer & and a smoke chilling out
normally he's into thrash death grunge metal played at a million miles an hour
but he started off a lot more mellow in his playing style, recently I got a squire strat to fix up for my daughters youth club that jonny has taken a liking to
but not only that brought him back to his roots

we recorded this after a few smokes late last night
lot of mistakes in the first part (shine on) as he hasn't played it in years
but he remembered the Fletcher memorial as he used to play it with the Floyd tribute band I worked with
and he stood in as Bass player when needed but its on the guitar he comes to life

we recorded this direct to cam, he is plugged into a Trace Elliot amp with no effects
other than the Amp, I didn't have time to set up the desk to record the guitar so its raw

volume at the start is a bit off as it was set to manual and full
and this was not rehearsed I just picked up the cam and recorded it
but for sure I'll be doing it a lot more

yeah it pisses me off as well
I sit for days trying to learn a riff or song, he does it without thinking about it most of the time
If I had his talent I'd be out in a band, then he could buy his dad a new guitar instead of me buying them for him LOL

his musical interest developed early as I was working as a roadie / sound engineer when they were born
and they grew up around bands & instruments, funnily he started on drums as soon as he could stand up
at 9 - 10 he got into bass then guitar and went from there

just I very rarely get it recorded as it tends to be spur of the moment
