Majorca 2 stroke peds were the sum total of my biking experience. The CBT was a mad 30's whim, and then I rode a pedal bike regularly for a year afterwards until I felt confident that I had the right attitude: can't be seen, and even if they do see you, you're not "real" traffic.
Some people jump right in, some of us take a long hard think about it, but I doubt that many of us regret it. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Well my paternal grandad had been a biker in his youth (BSA's and Nortons etc), but he had downgraded to a Honda 90 by the time I was old enough to become aware of bikes....
However, school, college, then a growing family family interrupted me, until I eventually made a definate decision to learn about bikes when I was about 30.
And it still took until I was 35 before I actually knuckled down and did my DAS.
My ONLY regret is that I didn't do it sooner. ____________________ 1st bike (Sept'06 - May'10) : 1991 GPZ500S / Current bike (since Nov 2009) : 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600N

5 minutes, then I got on the phone, booked my CBT, then went to the Honda dealers and brought my CBF125.
I'm not exaggerating either, my mate pulled up on his new bike, let me have a go, found it great fun and had intended to use the inheritance I got to get on the road anyway (but was thinking car licence) and thought "sod it, this is far more fun that 4 wheels, I'll have me one of them" ____________________ Women are the cause of ALL accident's, If it isn't because one has run you off the road, it's because you have spent too long checking her out and driven up the arse of the car in front!

My dad and sister had bikes whilst I was growing up, when I was old enough I couldn't afford it. By the time I could afford it, my then long term girlfriend hated them, and it was a case of "me or a bike". This lasted about 6 years whilst my dick ruled my life, until I thought fuck it, and got a CB100N. I passed my test and got the CB250RS within 3 weeks of us splitting up. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. I first pillioned at 6, on the back of my bro who was 9!
Always liked them, but never had the money or the common sense to learn to ride.
My dad, uncles, brother always had bikes.
We used to get taken to the speedway, with great wads of cotton wool shoved in our ears!
Money and sense to do it myself didn't appear until late 30's |

I didn't think about it, I begged my mother for many years and she finally relented when I hit 16... ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

Years. Wanted one since I was 17, but parents forced me to get a car. In retrospect I'm quite glad I did. But a few months after I hit 21, I suddenly decided "hey...why don't I buy a bike?", so about a week later I did my CBT, and about a week after that I bought my first bike. It's now been about 2 months and I'm booking my DAS for september (since I'm away between now and then).
So you could say either I waited...4 years, or 2 weeks. Depends on your perspective. Personally I'd say I waited 2 weeks from first deciding I'd get one.
Still haven't told my parents though...living at university helps keep it secret |

For a long time I had zero interest in bikes. Then one day I kinda got the itch for it, and went through stages of learning more about them, gandering at them to finally wanting one. I reckon the last bit was about 8 or 9 months of doing my research and saving up, doing CBT etc. Can't imagine I'll ever look back. ____________________ Current Bike: 2002 Honda CBR F Sport / Previous Bike: 2005 Honda CBR 125 (R.I.P)

I'd always like the look of them, especially the fat rear tire and under the seat exhausts, normally when I pulled up behind them in my 3 series rep mobile. However, the thought never occurred to me to get one until my then missus of 5 years decided to leave and I found myself have a strange "coming to god" moment at the age of 31 where I realised that 4 bedroom new build houses, German salon cars and sex once a month were not what I wanted in life, so I thought, fuck it, passed my CBT and Direct Access got myself the Thundercat and a 22 year old girl friend! Two years later, I'm still happy with both and coincidentally still have the house but now a Volvo....... You met me at a strange time in my life |

Speedway at Belle Vue aged about 7 and watching Spanish chavs ragging the tits off Bultacos.
FFWD a few decades and I found myself on my own and no car. My uncle had casually mentioned getting a bike to get about on, and he had an old XL125 I could use.
Taught myself how to pass the tests. 9 years of riding nearly everyday and I can honestly say that motorcycles are time consuming, unstable and sometimes expensive to maintain.
One of the best things I've done in my life. ____________________ Diabolical homemade music Bandcamp and Soundcloud
