Why do you have to hang of the bike, when you could just lean and do the same without knee down Rolling Eyes

Because it makes you look like a hero, and it makes women fawn over you. Thumbs Up

Can actually take that corner faster with no kneedown, but it's fun to play at.

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

don't understand the big deal of knee down's, i've never done it and i know i've had lean angles on my ktm that exceed most sports bike riders capabilities and that's just commuting in london

i thought the idea was get your body over so the bike can stay a little more upright and have more tyre/road contact ?

and i have yet to get my knee down Sad

it's more to do with the fact that when you are powering through a corner, the bike want's to sit up straight....... the more you power through, the more you fight to keep the bike turning

i've had my ktm peg on the ground on one occasion, no need for knees

troll much - supermotos are much easier to get down accept it, people on sports bikes really do seem to think that they are superior lol

I could get the pegs down on my CG125, doesn't mean I was doing super lean angles, it just means I wasn't hanging off and the pegs are very low down.

Hanging off the bike means that there is a greater force pulling you around the corner while the bike is sat up more therefore greater stability and more grip from the tyres.

Just because you can get your peg down doesn't mean that you are going very fast and you're a superior rider. Ham and his mate we're just mucking around and then you brought your massive ego into it, probably because you've never got your knee down and found how fun it is.

i quoted what someone else said.....

also, the pegs on a cg125 are not designed for ground clearance lol

for me people knee down for the sake of doing a knee down, so then they can all tell their mates, it's 100% bragging rights when it's done like the above lol

The first time I had my knee down properly, the exhaust was down too. That was a bit of a "WTF?!" moment back in the pits. Laughing

If you're sticking your knee out you're not doing it properly.

Exactly my point. Sports bike pegs are designed with ground clearance in mind, so obviously are harder to get the peg to touch the ground. On the other hand, I doubt supermotos have great ground clearance compared to a sports bike.

Yeah some people do just do it for bragging rights, but it is just fun to do, and if you do it right you will corner a lot faster than if you stayed on your seat. But I think in the picture above they're only messing around and just doing it for a laugh and not saying they are riding gods (even if that's what they think they are Wink).

nice, always good to see others using them for commuting, there's honestly nothing better for using in a city IMO, i do a 22 miles round trip through the centre of london every day

too many peopel are sucked into sports bikes IMO, i was at first too

i've always noticed, the people i have chats with at the lights are always other supermoto users too

Agreed. 105kg, 60+bhp, sit up riding position, nice and tall, sticky tyres.

Sooooo much fun commuting on, the Street Triple doesnt get a look in when it comes to riding to work and back or on a country lane blast.
