Ok so not rocket science I know, but how are you guys finding the most effective way of selling a machine these days..

there are quite a few avenues to go down these days, ebay, autotrader, magazines, internet etc.. but which ones are people finding the most successful?

reason im asking is because im gonna put the Z up to see if I can raise enough cash for the Speed Triple Very Happy obviously the less it costs me too move it on the better..

if I go down the ebay route I take it cash or bankers draft are the best routes to recieve money to avoid being shafted?!

eBay - cash only.

I've bought and sold bikes from Pistonheads with success; its free and most of the users are enthusiasts so items on there are likely to be well maintained Wink

I bought my first bike from gumtree and then the second from eBay, both cash.

I sold the first one on eBay, cash only. Went in a couple of days. Smile

Ideal what do u list it as on ebay, just a straight buy it now with the price you want for it and expect them maybe to haggle when they get to you for a viewing?!

I but mine as bidding and made a specific point to say that they must phone for bidding.

When phoning I just explain that I want cash on collection and if they view it and like it, they can buy it and I'll take it off ebay.

Writing the line "Advertised elsewhere so advert may be ended early" usually means "make me a cash offer" in ebay speak.

Seems easier to just use an eBay Classified ad. Although Gumtree is free, you might as well slap it up there first and see if you get a bite.

Yes, ebay classified for me too. I have used auctions as well, sometimes successfully, sometimes not.

If you are using classified, make sure you price it sensibly or it will not sell. Obvious maybe, but you would be suprised at how many people stick dealer prices on their bikes.

Auctions are good if you want a fast sale, but you won't make so much.

Ask the Triumph dealer what he will offer you as trade in. It might not be quite as much as you hope, but its gone there and then, no hassle.

I have never had any joy with auto trader as a seller. Same bikes on ebay are gone within days at the same price, make of that what you will.

Gumtree for me - my area plus two or three surrounding ones. If it's priced right, it'll go without an issue.
