i was on about getting a imported bike recently
will it be on a Q plate or normal english plates if i get it and get it registred

Shouldn't end up on a Q-plate, providing there's adequate evidence of the age of the bike. Something like the registration document from the country it's currently registered in, or failing that a dating certificate from the manufacturer ought to suffice. You should then get an age-related plate.

Post 1980 VINs should be sufficient in accurately finding out information about the vehicle like age, where it was built, etc. It's a worldwide standard too so wherever you import it from, it should be like this.
