Just having a clear out of the garage and found 3 old helmets that I need to get rid off.

I haven't the time or inclination to make flower pots out of them so wondered what the current thinking was as to disposal.

First thought was down the local council tip but that'll just add to landfill.
Any other options? Quick and easy works for me Very Happy

Thanks Thumbs Up

Paint them white and sell them on ebay as 'Imperial Stormtrooper helmets', or 'Stig's spare helmets'.

Re-hashing previous thread comments... but, don't emergency services take them for training purposes?

Go to a cinema that demands you leave crash helmets with them rather than take them into the auditorium. Do not collect on your way out. They will then dispose of them for you.

Ambulance service will take them and put them to good use.
They are great for keeping fish and chips warm (and safe) on the way back from the chippy.

Would require some work, but a mini illuminated fishtank would be cool.

Find out the local NHS training school and drop them off, even fire station my local NHS training facility pays for old helmets as they need them to practise on. You are also potentially helping yourself if you ever come to the circumstance where you need their help.

Wear one to a petrol station that demands you remove your helmet - make a play for the camera about trying to find somewhere to put it, place it precariously and look horrified as it tumbles to the ground.

Place on counter and ask for monies.

1) Give them away
Most beginners would love em

Pizza shops may give you a nice meal for a helmet (done it before)

Avid airbrushers may want a helmet to pratice some new airbrushing techniques on...

Or be greedy and sell

There was a thread called "The great big giveaway" or something ... Take a photo, upload, etc.
I, for example, would love an extra helmet for a passenger Smile

If too battered to be used - bin Smile

I thought you could donate them to local fire stations/hospitals.

Or go there in someone elses car wearing said helmet. When they ask you to take it off, do so and leave it on the pump. Do not collect. If they get enough helmets perhaps they will rethink their policy.
