Ello. Since I'm selling the CB and the insurance is about to expire, I'd like to look at insuring it for a short term, maybe 2 weeks. Shortest I've found so far (although I've not extensively looked) is eBike with a TPFT £33 quote for a month. Considering my insurance was £87 fully comp last year, that's a bit steep. Of course I'd expect to pay a premium over an equivalent 12 month policy, but I was hoping to find something around £20 for a couple of weeks.

Any recommendations?

I think ebike might be your best bet, there are other places that offer it but you have to be over 21 to do it, so I don't know of any prices!

One thing you could do, (if you can be bothered with the hassle) is insure the bike for the year, pay 12 months full in advance. Some insurers have a '2 week cooling period' (Motorcycle direct did when I did it - to test ride a bike, obviously make sure the insurer does it.) Which basically means you can cancel the policy at any point within those 2 weeks and get all your money back.

I got every penny back Thumbs Up

Just thought it could be worth a shout.

The sites I've found like Dayrider and a couple of others all pulled their plugs at the end of April this year on 1-28 day insurance. The admin fee for cancelling an annual policy would probably make eBike look cheap.

How did you get on with this in the end Shaggy? I only seem to be able to find eBike that can provide the short term policies.

This is pretty frustrating; I was trying to insure a bike for a short period not long ago. I only really needed 1 day, but would have been happy with a week even. Why is is so difficult to find short term cover these days?

A metric fuckload of statutory overheads on each policy, low translation to full policies, and a high rate of "oh dear, my bike's been nicked 25 hours after I took out the policy" claims?

eBike is the only place I've found that's still doing it, they can pretty much name their price.
