Hey lads and lasses,

I'm guessing this is the right place to post if not sorry. I've been looking around for an apprenticeship to do with motorcycle mechanics, just received an email from another company saying no so I was just wondering if anyone knew of any companies who do take on apprentices? Such as halfords for example but not as they only do cars.. Or any smaller companies in the Colchester Essex area if you're from around here..

I'd be interested on knowing, you can go online with Honda, suzuki and BMW

BMW send an email straight away saying not suitable, what with fabrication and welding, 2 years of car mechanics at college and 1 years motorbike at college.

Must be over qualified for them Laughing

Apprentices are most likely going to be employed at the dealer level, most of whom are franchises.

So write to dealers rather than the manufacturers.

Might be worth going into the job centre and asking if there's an official route into motor industry aprenticeships.

the job center will 90% chance refer him to the link i provided as its a government setup website for getting people into apprenticeships.

its actually where i got the link from, the JCP.

Is relocating really not an option?

If it was something I really wanted to do and potentially one of the biggest manufacturers in the world was saying something was available I would have to seriously consider it.

I don't know the state of financies with apprenticeships these days, I went the education route and had to move 300 miles from home to do what I wanted to do. Never regretted it for a second.

It would be an option, but I can't afford that and with the wages apprenticeships pay I wouldn't be able to afford it..

But by all means if I could afford it I'd be well prepared to move. And at 17 I don't think there's many options of loans or anyone for me.
