so im really freaking bored at the moment and went to my wardrobe where my trousers and jacket are hanging on the back of one of the doors and my helmet on the shelf in it.

i thought about making a slide out shelf which comes out when you open the doors bringing the gear towards you, batman vault style in one of the movies.

sad i know, but it'd keep me out of trouble for 20 minutes lol

anyhoos, got me thinking.

how do you store your bike gear?

Textiles are kept on the banister.

Gloves on the sofa.

Boots by the door.

Helmet on top of it's box.

Leathers in the wardrobe.

Gloves live in my lid, which sits at the bottom of the stairs, leathers sit folded on top of the wardrobe and my textiles get thrown wherever I last took them off, boots are usually at two separate ends of the bedroom, where they land once I've kicked them off lol!

Waterproof leggings get hung up in the garage, when dry they get rolled back up and put back on the bike rack. Helmet and gloves live in the garage too. Jackets live in the porch on the coat rack. Boots live in the porch.

All hung up in the garage, although I do have a pretty newly built garage so it doesn't leak etc. I don't have a wardrobe big enough to fit both jacket in and my clothes.

Yeah I got told that at work the other day, a woman came in with a shoei needing a new pinlock visor, as you said, contaminants can affect the life expectancy of the polystyrene inside the lid, as well as the velco scratching the vizor and pulling the fibres on the inside of the lid.

My lids only a cheapy and I'm in need of a new one anyway so I don't give a crap lol.

your jacket isn't made of polystyrene inside it is it? and the salt you sweat is a different sodium compound to the stuff they throw on the roads (Which doesn't really contain much salt, its mostly grit and sand)

I keep all my gear in a big trunk in the bedroom - there is stuff in there going back decades....

My lids are kept on top of the wardrobes where the kids can't (in theory) get to them. They are up there with the air rifles and the rampant rabbit. If we get burgled I can chose whether to shoot the buggers or beat them to death with a long, pink widow's comforter...
