So after months of lurking about I finally registered... Smile

Took my Mod 1 this morning and failed, got through one and a half figure of 8's didn't quite give the bike enough power, wobbled and put my foot down *sigh* Doh! disappointed but I guess that just means I'll be spending a bit of time in a quiet car park..!

Also got 2 minor's, 1 for the manual handling (I thought it was getting too close to the cone so pushed it forward a little before bringing it into the 'garage') and 1 for doing 49km/h on the hazard avoidance...

Re-booked the test for next Monday, hoping I pass and that I get Mod 2 done and passed before my birthday Dance!

Lucy

Don't worry, many people fail their MOD1 first, second even third time. I guess just think of it like a practice, and after all, a practice worth £15.50 which is by far the best deal around looking at training school prices.

Do you have the diagrammes? Do you have cones?

Practice more and you'll be fine Laughing I was using more revs then I usually do anyway just incase such a thing happened which was good practice for the tests esspecially since it is kick start only Laughing

You'll get it next time! Cool

I failed my mod1 for not going fast enough on the figure of 8 too. Don't worry about it, just go faster next time and try not to worry about it.

Good luck!

I couldn't help but look at the examiner with an expression that could only be read as 'fuuuuuuck', it was the worst feeling ever so I sure as hell don't want it to happen again Laughing

I don't have any cones but the local co-op car park is quiet in the evenings, so I reckon I'll go there every evening Thumbs Up

Eh, you were statistically like to fail the first one, women have a lower pass rate on mod 1 (but a higher on mod 2!). I don't know why, but I'd venture a guess that it's down to not giving it enough beans. As I have to keep reminding the missus, grip it and twist it like you mean it.

Why, no, she's not learning to ride a bike.

You don't really need cones, use anything (bottles of water, tin cans etc).
Personally I just used to take a bit of chalk up to Sainsburys and draw out the Mod1 course. That way, presuming it doesn't rain, it will be there for a few days.

Good luck, you'll nail it next time Thumbs Up

I agree, I didn't even use cones, just rubbish that I found on the carpark, or visually knew that 3 yards equates approximately to the width of a car parking space. And used the overlapping paint crossed over eachother as a visual guide. And being able to do 3 yard slalomn makes the test itself so much easier.

Thanks, sound advice Thumbs Up Smile I noticed after I parked up in the 'garage' that it would have been easier if I'd gone in the other as the cones were slightly closer to the 'garage' I was in Thinking

I took a tape measure to the local empty car park, and checked the width of the spaces, then used distances slightly less than the allowed ones on the Mod1 test to practice, on the basis that if I knew I could do it in less space, I should be rock solid in my own mind that I can do it in the space allowed on the test.
