A MOT tester told me last year that the MOT people have tightened up the regs on number plates since the introduction of ANPR. Also, they have had trouble with certain bargain basement fitter type establishments telling people they need new brake discs when they don't, so apparently any scored or worn brake discs (even dangerous ones) are supposed to be an advisory rather than a fail...
So, to sum up, the regs on brakes have been loosened, and the regs on number plates have been tightened. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

I'm about to put the Savage in for a MOT and it has a slightly smaller than normal number plate. Since it's registered before 2001, I thought the requirement was more that it had to be readable from 15m :-

Might just stick the legal one on anyhoo ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

Didn't you just buy that anyway...?

Usually I would insist, but I was happy when I checked the bike over - the MOT items that needed looking at (other than the red reflector) were the straight through exhaust and an undersized number plate, both of which I've got legal replacements for in the box of spares that came with it. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you.
